Lincoln Democrats got in on the excitement Saturday evening and turned out in good numbers. Whether they were supporting Sen. Hillary Clinton or Sen. Barack Obama, many said the experience was the highlight of the night.

It started with a welcome. Many had no idea what to expect when they arrived for Nebraska's first caucus.

"I had no idea what we were going to do. I had no idea, just wanted to get my vote in and glad to do that," said Nick McGuire, Lincoln.

Nick and Katie McGuire made caucus night a family affair. Nick typically registers as an Independent while Katie referred to herself as a Republican -- until the caucus. Both of them wanted to be involved and felt Barack Obama was the best candidate to lead the country. So when the caucusing began, their boots headed to Obama.

For the McGuires, the rest of the night was pretty straight forward. They made their choice early but enjoyed the enthusiasm and watching others get persuaded by their fellow Obama supporters.

"I think it's great you're enthusiastic about a candidate and come to support them. It's great," said Katie McGuire, Lincoln. "One guy hesitated at very end, went back and forth and they cheered. It was fun."

At the Malone Center the McGuires were in the majority. Obama won in a landslide 188 votes to 53 for Clinton with one undecided voter.

No matter which candidate the Democrats supported, most agreed on one thing they all thought the process was worth it and would come back again the next time around.
