A recent crop report for Nebraska shows that corn and soybeans are progressing better than last year's crops.

A weekly report from the Nebraska Agricultural Statistics Service says corn conditions going into this week rated 6 percent poor or very poor, 19 percent fair, 56 percent good and 19 percent excellent. That's above last year's 74 percent good or excellent rating.

Irrigated fields rated 74 percent good or excellent -- well below last year. But dryland fields rated 80 percent good or excellent -- well above year-ago levels.

Soybean conditions rated 7 percent poor or very poor, 18 percent fair, 60 percent good and 15 percent excellent. That's well above last year's 67 percent good or excellent condition.

Where is this info coming from? Many of the crops from flooded and storm damaged areas don't look to good quite yet. These storms hit a huge area of the state. I really don't see how we could be on the way to a better year than last year.
