The Douglas County Health Department has released a report that indicates a growing problem with sexually transmitted diseases.

The report released Tuesdat night sais infection rates for certain STDs in Douglas County are between 38 percent and 68 percent higher than national averages.

Experts said the diseases are spreading most quickly among young minorities.

Chlamydia is now the most common STD in the county, with more than 500 infections per 100,000 residents.

Officials also say gonorrhea rates reached 185 per 100,000 residents two years ago.
