While questions remain about a mass-murder suspect in Iowa City, investigators think they've found their man.

They believe his remains were found in a burning van Monday, the same day his wife and four children were found dead in their home.

Police say the man, Steven Sueppel, is a former bank executive facing trial next month for embezzlement.

Authorities were first alerted to trouble yesterday by a 911 caller, who said officers needed to go to the Iowa City home immediately.

A few minutes later, authorities say the family's van entered entered a highway median "for an unknown reason," ramming a concrete support and sign pole. The ensuing fire has delayed identification of the body inside.

A police sergeant says he'd bet "a fair chunk of money" that the body in the van is the missing husband and father.

Initial reports said the woman and children were shot, but no cause of death has been released. Autopsies for all six bodies are scheduled Tuesday.
