A man is dead and and another man is under arrest following a weekend shooting.

Saturday night, authorities found 38-year-old Justin Underwood dead in the living room of his Ogallala apartment at 300 E. N St.

Underwood was taken to the Ogallala Community Hospital, where he died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Russell Nowak, 57, apparently turned himself in to deputies

Underwood’s body was taken to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff for an autopsy. The investigation continues.

Nowak has been charged with second degree murder and use of a firearm to commit a felony. He is lodged at the Keith County Jail.
