A Beatrice Middle School student faces disciplinary action for bringing a suspicious device to school.

Superintendent Dale Kruse said students alerted school administrators about the device Thursday morning. Authorities were called in, and the firework-type device was confiscated by the Nebraska State Patrol.

Kruse wouldn't say what action was taken against the student.

State troopers are analyzing the device to find out exactly what it is.
