A Douglas County district judge has handed down the maximum sentence for a man accused in a fatal crash.

Joshua Zazueta was sentenced to five years in prison for motor vehicle homicide. He pleaded guilty in February.

Authorities have said Zazueta was driving 112 miles an hour and was driving recklessly when he hit another car near Waterloo last June.

Seventy-six-year-old John Peterson of Valley died in the accident.

Peterson's teenage grandson, who shares the same name, was injured.
