Maurice Purify

A | A | A

A bench trial for former Nebraska receiver Maurice Purify has been continued.

Purify was scheduled to stand trial Wednesday on a charge of being an inmate of a disorderly house. But, his attorney asked for a continuance.

A hearing in the case is scheduled for May 20.

Purify, former Cornhusker Carl Nicks and current players Ben Martin and Mike Smith were ticketed March 8 when police broke up a party at a residence in northwest Lincoln.

Purify was signed Thursday by the Cincinnati Bengals. The 6-foot-3, 224-pound free agent has a two-year contract. Terms were not disclosed.

Why is there a trial for something like this. Now wonder our court system is so screwed up. Just ticket the man for $100 and get on with it. We don't need to tie up the court system for a trial of disordely house.

Hope he gets the book thrown at him...he got off so easy before, lets see what happens now that he isn't on the precious football team.

Why don't they just print it like it is:Former Husker Scheduled For Court Appearance,That's all it has to say and it's done,But NO They have to dramatize it by adding his height & weight to it like he is something special or something and Purify was sighned with the Bengals. The 6-foot-3,224-pound free agent has a two-year contract, I'm like so what! he's old news.
