A 50-year-old Gretna woman is dead following a crash in southwest Omaha.

Sarpy County Sheriff's deputies say the crash happened around 4:30 Monday afternoon, killing Marsha Erwin.

Investigators say Erwin ran a red light while trying to turn left onto a southbound lane at a busy intersection. Her car was then hit by a northbound van.

Erwin, who was not wearing a seat belt, was flown to an Omaha hospital, where she died several hours later.

Investigators say the 44-year-old driver of the van suffered minor injuries.
