A 17-year-old boy who burned another teen with a hand-steamer has been given a year of probation for third-degree assault.

Police say the teen put a hand steamer to the stomach of a 15-year-old, causing significant burns, while the two were on stage at Lincoln Northeast High School in February.

The 17 year old was sentenced in juvenile court last week, after pleading no contest to the charge in March.

He also was ordered to complete 30 hours of community service.
