An Omaha woman is recovering from an attack by a pit bull, and the dog is now in the custody of the Nebraska Humane Society.

Cynthia Edwards says she spent spending several hours at the hospital this week after the dog broke free from a chain it was on and attacked her as she walked near a city street.

Edwards' injuries include a number of cuts and bruises. She also had to have stitches in forehead.

The dog will remain at the Humane Society until a judge decides what to do with it.
