About 30 homes and 10 businesses were flooded in Platte Center after a creek spilled over its banks late Thursday.

Platte County Emergency Management Director Tim Hofbauer said sandbags are stacked near Elm Creek in the town as a precaution against more flooding. He says the water appears to be receding.

Several other areas of the state are bracing for potential flooding following severe storms Thursday that produced tornadoes.

Jeff Reese of the National Weather Service said the portion of the Platte River from Ashland through Louisville is now at the most risk of flooding.

There are also flood warnings on the Big and Little Blue rivers, the Missouri River south of Nebraska City and the Platte in central Nebraska.
