Authorities have arrested the 28-year-old Greenwood mother of a brutally abused infant and have issued an arrest warrant for the baby's father.

Cass County Sheriff's Department deputies were called to Children's Hospital in Omaha last weeek. Investigators say a 4-month-old girl suffered broken ribs and internal injuries, as well as bruising, burns and bite marks over her entire body.

Investigators interviewed and subsequently arrested mother Melanie Powell.

Investigators also issued an arrest warrant for the baby's father, 29-year-old Brian Bowder of Greenwood.

The infant and two of her siblings were placed in the care of state officials. The baby remained hospitalized.
