A 24-year-old Lincoln woman attacked in April in a road rage incident is suing her alleged attackers.

Court records show that Heather Nelson filed the lawsuit in Lancaster County District Court earlier this month against four other women. They are Patricia Johnson, Jeralyn Whitfield, Christina Campbell and Quanetta Campbell, who all face criminal charges in the case.

Police say the attack happened in the early hours of April 6 after Nelson's car was involved in a fender-bender with another car.

Police say Nelson got out of her car, but became frightened when women in two cars began threatening her. She drove to a friend's house, and police say it was there she was attacked by the group.

Nelson's lawsuit says her medical expenses following surgery have exceeded $20,000.

GOOD! I hope those four women pay through the nose for what they did to Heather Nelson. It was obvious from the start they set her up. People like that have no regard for any human life. In addition to paying for Heather's medical expenses, etc. I hope they spend a long time behind bars. Lincoln doesn't need people like that on the street.

I agree that this was a hate crime. If this had been white women attacking a black woman it would have been called a hate crime. Why not the other way around?!?!

I don't believing in sueing but in this case you should so they have to pay for all the damage they've caused besides apologize. They should reap what they sow

Heather needs support from all of us! This was truly a terrible hate crime... I must cross my fingers & hope Al Sharpton doesn't get word of this story....look out! It will turn & be all about racial profiling. Good Luck Heather!

This brutal attack was a premeditated hate crime, pure and simple.
