Seward is locally known as America's Official Fourth of July city, and that's where thousands kicked off the holiday weekend with more than just fireworks.

Friday was Independence Day across the nation, and no other town knows how to celebrate better, than Seward, Neb.

"It's the place to be. This is the Fouth of July city," said Harlan Anson of Seward.

Besides being America's official Fouth of July city, Seward attracts more than 60,000 people each year, to celebrate Independence Day with fun, family activities.

"They have an air show as you come into town, and crafts start early in the morning. They have a great food alley, and a great parade, and fireworks afterwards," said Janelle Duntz of Eagle.

"It's just amazing. It's so cool to see 60,000 people in a small town like this on one day, and there's all kinds of stuff to do. The parade's great. The fireworks are awesome tonight. It's just a fun time," said Anson.

For 140 years, Seward has offered an old-fashioned, small-town Fouth of July celebration for kids and parents alike.

A red, white and blue celebration many say they look forward to all year.

"When you live in Seward, this is the day. This is what you look forward to, the Fouth of July," said Anson.

The article is oh so true. We visited the Fourth of July celebration for the first time this year as we had heard so much about it. Well for a small town they really put on a fabulous show. I was so surprized. The entertainment was fantastic, crafts VERY GOOD, and the food was great. It only took us 40 years to get there. We would highly recommend this town for a GREAT Fourth of July. Thank you Seward.

I finally made it to Seward on the 4th. I'm so glad I went. There were lots of things to do and see and it is a great time for famlies to have some fun. We had a great time, bought some neat things at the arts and crafts booths and there was lots of good food there, too. I hope to go again next year.
