The National Weather Service said a storm that moved through Nebraska late Saturday afternoon spawned a tornado that briefly touched down in Cherry County.
The weather service's office in North Platte reports that the tornado hit two miles west of Valentine about 3:40 p.m. There was no immediate report of damage.
Weather officials say the storm carrying hail and heavy winds also caused minor damage in Anselmo, about 90 miles away in the central Nebraska county of Custer. There were reports of downed power lines and tree limbs in and around the town.
