Federal prosecutors want to charge a teenage slaying suspect as an adult.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Omaha said the girl stabbed 15-year-old LaTressa Lee Walker to death and wounded another girl. The knifings occurred last week in a home in Macy on the Omaha Indian Reservation in northeast Nebraska.

LaTressa's mother said her daughter was trying to break up an argument between two other girls when she was stabbed around 2 a.m. on July 2.

Prosecutors say a U.S. district judge will make the final decision on whether the girl will face adult charges.

Pending that decision, prosecutors would not release the suspect's name.
