That morning drive to work can be unbearable, but one Lincoln man is helping to make that trip a little more enjoyable.

During your morning commute to work you may have seen Salayo Brown. Nearly every day he gets up and makes his way to the corner of 27th and O Street to do one thing: dance.

“It makes me feel good. I love music, just like the Old J said, and that’s why I do what I do. It makes me feel really good. It puts a smile on my face,” said Salayo Brown, Lincoln

Brown spends hours tearing it up on the corner, and even as the temps continue to rise and sweat drips off his face, nothing can make Brown take off his dancing shoes.

“I don't get discouraged if nobody says anything or doesn't drop off anything for me or anything like that. I just mind my own business. I don't get discouraged at all," he said.

And what do the people passing by think? Brown said it is a good feeling knowing his moves brings a smile to someones face

“The reason why I do this is to try to get people -- whatever they are listening to in their cars -- to bob their heads and get into their music. I’m just as David said, 'Lets rejoice a be glad in this glorious day that he has made.' That’s what it's about," he said.

Brown said he comes out to dance as often as he can. You can check out his moves at the corner of 27th and O Street.

I GREATLY enjoy Salayo - he makes my day when I see him on my morning commute! I have to ask though, what's with the cross & flowers? I hope he is ok!

This is my son and I am having mixed emotions regarding this behavior. He will be thirty-eight years old in a few days.

Whatever turns him on, but if a girl was dancing would she get arrested for prostitution? He really needs to do this elsewhere. When something causes accidents it is corrected. He will cause accidents because people will look at him and not the road.

I went to school with him and enjoyed his company I hope he is doing well and I will keep praying for him and others to keep putting smiles on peoples faces.

I agree, 27th and O is not the place to be doing this. It is all fine and dandy if he wants to go outside so everyone can see him dance. However, he really needs to pick a spot that a driver doesn't need his/her full attention on the road. Accidents happen really fast, and if you are paying attention to Salayo instead of the road, they are inevitable. Not bashing him or telling him to stop, I just think it would be beneficial for him to find a different spot.

My husband and I stopped to dance one day while downtown on O Street. It was outside a Mexican resturant that was playing lively music. Although he was terminaly ill at the time we danced. I now hold the memory very dear! Go Salayo, people need to stop, smile and dance for joy more often. Blessings to you!

TO THOSE WHO TALK NEGATIVE ABOUT HIM, AT LEAST HE IS DOING SOMETHING HE ENJOYS, AND HE'S NOT OUT THERE GETTING IN TROUBLE. ALSO, MAYBE HE CAN BE SOMETHING BIG ONE DAY, THAT WE ARE NOT.

Good reporting! I had just seen him day before yesterday and wondered what his story is - now I know. Thanks for the info about him and thank you, Mr. Brown, for caring about others.

I'm a 39 year old mother of 3. When the kids are at school or away for the evening, I turn on the radio, shut the shades and DANCE! try it sometime folks. I am not sure i would ever do it on the street corner, but it does a body (and mind) good!!!

One of my high school classmates decades ago (who was trained in ballet), said, "The movement of dance is expression of joy in the soul." That's what I think of when I drive by 27th & O and see Salayo sharing joy. If I get my courage up, I'll stop and join him one morning.

It's always good to have something on your commute to make people take their mind off of driving and make them run into the back of your car.
