A poll suggests that most rural Nebraskans want the government to address global warming now.

The Nebraska Rural Poll also says many older Nebraskans and many in agricultural jobs aren't sure about what causes climate change and what its effects are.

The Center for Applied Rural Innovation at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln mailed surveys to 6,200 randomly selected households in 84 rural Nebraska counties last spring. Nearly 2,500 responses were received.

Fifty-three percent of people who responded agreed or strongly agreed that climate change required immediate action by the government. The survey report says 21 percent disagreed or strongly disagreed.

Survey also shows that a higher percentage didn't care enough to respond. It does not show that 53% are in favor of doing something, it can also show that 74% don't care.

Seriously, this planet is so huge and complex, what can any government do to "solve" climate change. Our climate is cyclical and we are probably in an upward trend right now. But nothing we have done or will do, will do anything to change what the climate does.

Random sample survey? That's horrible methodology.

We are now heading towards global cooling and the 200 year global warming event is coming to a halt. People need to realize the sun has much more to do with this long term cycle than anything us humans can cause. Read the scientific research and educate yourselves before you make irrational decisions on spending our tax dollars on things that will make no difference. Don't beleive everything you hear in the media or from Al Gore??? Their is lots of research out there and more coming showing the long term climatic changes that are coming to a close and what will happen in the next 5 years to the long term effects. A quote I read is we are spending money on things that will not make a difference and we should be preparing for a cooler climate in the very near future. The human effect on climate is a drop in the bucket compared to the effects of the sun and its output.
