A sex offender who moved to Nebraska faces sentencing next month for suffocating his girlfriend's baby.

Christopher Klein had pleaded not guilty to manslaughter and failing to register as a sex offender. He had moved from the Minneapolis area.

On Tuesday the 21-year-old pleaded no contest to manslaughter. Hall County prosecutors dropped the other charge in exchange for Klein's plea.

Caitlynne Bohlen was seven weeks old when she died Feb. 19.

Court records say Klein put a pacifier in Caitlynne's mouth, wrapped a blanket around her head and squeezed her against the side of her bassinet with a pillow.

Klein said he learned the technique from Caitlynne's mother, who also was charged.

He was not Caitlynne's father.
