A Crofton, Neb., man charged with a Yankton murder has received permission from a judge to get a second psychiatric evaluation before entering a plea.
Shane Tweedy, who is 29, was indicted in June on a charge of first-degree murder for the slaying of Patrick Montgomery, who was 46.
Tweedy had dated Montgomery's daughter.
An evaluation of Tweedy was recently completed at the South Dakota Human Services Center, but his lawyer convinced the judge to allow a second evaluation by another psychiatrist.
Montgomery's body was found May 22 in his home. He'd been shot to death.
