An Omaha police officer critically wounded in a shooting last month is out of the hospital.

Paul Latschar was released from Creighton University Medical Center on Monday.

Latschar was shot several times during a late-night traffic stop on Aug. 20.

Corey Allen is charged with two counts of second-degree attempted murder and several weapons counts.

Police say Allen got out of his car after being stopped and began firing, hitting Latschar. Latschar's partner was not shot, and returned fire.

Allen was not hit and ran off. He was arrested a short time later.

Good luck Officer Latschar. Thank God that the scum that shot you will be off the streets! The public thanks you for your heroic work on the force!

I can't believe how when an officer gets injured by a criminal, the stories are so short, and few and far between. But if a criminal gets shot by a police officer, we hear about it constantly for days on end. Very disappointed in our media and how they represent those that truly do protect and serve.
