Thieves targeting precious metals stole parts off of 40 junk cars at Star City Auto Salvage Monday night.

Police say it happened between 7 pm Monday and noon Tuesday.
The thieves cut the catalytic converters off of 40 cars and stole a riding lawnmower.
Police say the platinum inside the converters is worth about $100 at salvage yards.
The total loss at Star City is estimated at $4200.
