The Nebraska candidates for U.S. Senate, Republican Mike Johanns and Democrat Scott Kleeb are reacting to the $700 billion financial bailout bill that passed Friday.
"It's a better bill than where they started by a lot," said Johanns. "A significant amount of oversight that has the potential to actually reduce the cost of the bill over time. And really what it came down to was there wasn't really a choice. A lot of it is people being pulled into this now, jobs are at risk. You just can't let that happen."
"I'm angry we had to get to this position," said Kleeb. "We're talking about $700 billion to bail out the U.S. economy because we essentially let Wall Street run things for too long without any oversight, without any rules what so ever and now we're the one's paying the price."
The bailout is essentially a way for the government to buy up rotten investments, and ease the burden on the U.S. economy.
