Lincoln police are searching for a man they believe attacked a 13 year old girl on her way to school.

Police say the girl was walking to Goodrich Middle School when a white male came up from behind and knocked her down near 11th and Groveland.

The girl told police the man tried to sexually asault her, but she was able to get away. Police say the girl ran several blocks to Goodrich where she got help and called police at 7:23 am.

The suspect is described as a white male 18 to 20 years old, around 6'1" with short hair. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, a black puffy jacket and baggy blue jeans.

Police Officer Katie Flood says the girl did everything right fighting to get away and advises kids walk in groups to and from school.
