A Grand Island family is selling their parent's estate, and some items are attracting national attention.
Barbara Graves admits its going to be hard to watch the items she grew up with be sold.
"It's sad for both my brothers, Chuck and Fred, and my sister Mary. It's a closing of a page of history, but it's something every family has to do," she said.
But unlike many families, the Fred and Maxine Bosselman estate is attracting buyers from across the country.
"My dad had a lovely collection of Parker guns and they're very, very sought after. We've had people from all over the country calling with interest in the Parker guns," said Graves.
Some pieces have historical significance.
"My mother was an avid collector of dolls. There are so many beautiful dolls: Princess Grace in her wedding gown, a few Marilyn Monroe dolls," said Graves. "The global peace statue. There were 250 of those made by Bodum Porcelain Company. This is number 88 and Ronald Regan gave one of these to Gorbachev when Ronald Regan was president."
Barbara hopes hundreds of her parents' items will find good homes.
"This is a 150 foot by 75 [foot building] and it is full of things," said Graves. "This is an accumulation of all their collections throughout 65 years of marriage."
Fred Bosselman started the Bosselman Company with his siblings, which--among other ventures--runs several truck stops and convenience stores throughout the country.
Fred passed away 2 years ago, and Maxine lives in a retirement home.
Their estate sale is Saturday.
