A fight between brothers ended Saturday afternoon with one shooting the other.
Police say 42-year-old Jerry Hanks and 58-year-old Charlie Hanks, both of Omaha, were fighting on the front porch of a home near North 49th and Fort streets just after 2:30 p.m. Jerry pulled a gun and allegedly shot Charlie in the chest.
Jerry called 911 and said he had just shot his brother. He waited at the house until help arrived and was taken into custody. Charlie was taken to Creighton University Medical Center with injuries not considered to be life threatening.
Jerry was later booked for suspicion of first-degree felony assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
