GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands (AP) -- Emergency officials in the Cayman Islands say they've not received any reports of injuries and there's only minimal damage, but Hurricane Paloma has grown into an extremely dangerous Category 4 storm.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami says Paloma has top winds near 140 miles per hour. It's expected to bring up to 10 inches of rain to the islands.
Forecasters say the storm is on a path toward Cuba, where it's expected to make landfall late tonight or early tomorrow as a major hurricane with winds of at least 111 miles per hour.
Cuba already is suffering from Hurricanes Ike and Gustav, which struck the island earlier this season and together caused an estimated $9.4 billion in damage. Nearly a third of Cuba's crops were destroyed, causing widespread shortages of fresh produce.
