If you've been battling your weight, there's a new program you may want to hear about. It's called Lifetracks, and it's only for people looking to lose 50 pounds or more.

Julie Cervantes-Salomons is learning how to prepare a healthy stir fry. It's just one part of the Lifetracks weight loss program that's helping her lose weight, something she's tried before.

"But the weight would come back," said Julie Cervantes-Salomons, Lincoln.

And that made matters even worse.

"It's more than frustrating. It's disappointing. It's disappointing in yourself and afraid to try again, she said.

"Lets face it, it's hard to work to lose weight, and it's a tough road, especially when people have 50 or more pounds to lose," said Michelle Welch, Registered Dietitian, LifePointe.

Welch said this program is about more than just shedding pounds -- it's about overall health.

The Lifetracks program includes 20 weeks of group classes, a weekly check-in with a registered dietitian and support from a medical doctor."

"If you try to do extreme dieting and you don't have medical supervision, you're really going to have a problem, potentially with your health condition. This helps us be able to do it more in a safe, effective way, without having them really put their health at risk and actually improves their health dramatically," Welch said.

Initially participants are given meal replacements to drink, along with lots of fruits and vegetables to make sure they're meeting their daily nutritional requirements.

Then Welch works with each person to help them make the transition back to healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. Results show the program is working.

"The first group when they finished the 20 weeks has an average loss of 39 pounds," Welch said.

Cervantes-Salomons has lost 60.

"I'm a long way from my goal..but I feel really successful," she said.

Cervantes-Salomons credits credits her success with support.

"It's Lifetracks. It's Michelle. It's the people in the program. It's the gym, the personal trainers, all those things that come together with the right mindset, allowing me to be successful," she said.

Lifetracks cost $250 every four weeks, plus money for meal replacement. The program's physician has to approve your participation .
