Guess Who's Nesting

There's a unique phase of pregnancy called the "nesting" phase.
It happens to most women as they enter their third trimester.
This is a time when (in the expectant mother's mind) things need to get done. Many women have the urge to organize and clean their homes. And many feel all baby projects should be nearing completion and major baby purchases should be made.

I am seriously in my nesting mode.

For me that means it's time for the carpets to be cleaned, a new crib to be ordered, bedding and a dual stroller purchased - etc. Unfortunately, the spouse of the mom-to-be does not go through this same phase.

And I'm not speaking for Todd, but my guess right now is that my nesting is beginning to get on his nerves. In fact, he politely asked me not to bring up one particular project, that involves removing all his clothes from Tyler's closet -- again.

Hmmm.

But I believe this nesting thing is bigger than me. And I honestly can't control my urge to want to get things ready for baby.

This weekend I'm going shopping!

Not sure if anyone out there remembers going through this phase...
But hearing your stories would certainly make me feel better.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Yes, I nested with both my kids who are exactly 11 months apart! I know it drove my husband crazy but he didn't say a word. I felt so much better knowing everything was done and ready to go since I'd be having a c-section and couldn't do too much when I got home from the hospital. Take advantage of getting as much done as you can before you're too exhausted to do anything.

I just had my first baby in January. I too went through the typical nesting period. I cleaned my carpets and the refridgerator. I kept trying to get the nursery ready etc.. However, I am sure that you know from experience that no matter how clean your house is before you go the hospital 1/2 a day home from the hospital your house is a disaster. At least I felt that way. I always felt so behind on house work that first few weeks. I suppose that is why things have to be so clean and orderly before the baby comes. Besides the shopping is fun

Yes, "nesting" is the final step in getting ready for baby! I had five children and I had to have everything perfect before I went to the hospital with each one. Although, it got harder to have a clean house, the suitcase packed, the laundry done, and food in the pantry with each pregnancy when there were also siblings waiting for their new baby, too! It is funny when I think back about my packed suitcase...it got smaller with each baby! Don't stress about these last days of pregnancy. Enjoy getting ready for that new bundle of joy, but don't forget to put you feet up!!

I'm right there with you! I am 29 weeks & stressing because I don't have the room ready yet. My list seems endless. I know that the baby won't care if things aren't ready but it's so much easier to get it done now, especially with a toddler running around too!

HA! Your blog is so funny. I can recall that a few weeks before my now 2-year-old son was born, I would take out all of the clothes in his closet and dresser, refold them and then put them back in....this was a daily ritual!
