Tyler is two!

Over the weekend we celebrated Tyler's second birthday.

All week long I prepped him for the big day, but he didn't seem to understand what all my birthday babble was all about.

But when he woke up Saturday morning and walked downstairs and saw all the decorations - all he could say was, "Whoa!" And I think it was then that he realized it would be a special day.

We kept the celebration pretty intimate...parents, grandparents, his aunt and our neighbors across the street. Once everyone arrived we sat down and ate. Tyler had BBQ potato chips with his Grandpa Sam and his favorite juice...and I made it a point not to fuss about eating all of his food. I figured I could let it go on his birthday.

Then it was time.

I lit the candles to the cake, everyone came around the table and we all sang "Happy Birthday" to Tyler. The look on his face while we were singing to him was priceless. He looked from person to person and smiled as if he was saying, "All this for me?" I will never forget that moment for as long as I live. And when it was time to blow out the candles - he gave it all he had, but in the end he needed a little help from mommy. So we blew out the the candles together and he was so proud when everyone clapped.

The cake and ice cream was great and of course he loved all of his presents. He's been vacuuming the carpet nonstop with his new toy vacuum. And now he can't wait to get outside because he wants to ride his new tricycle and spiderman four-wheeler.

You couldn't wipe the smile off of his face all day if you tried. He had a great day which made for wonderful weekend.

I just can't believe how fast the time has gone by and what a big boy he's turned out to be. I'm so proud of him and what's he learning and how good he is (most of the time). I just feel really blessed we have Tyler...and thankful he really did have a "happy" birthday.

If you have any good birthday memories - I'd love to read about them. So share!

Until next time...
