The attorney for a Nebraska middle school teacher who fled to Mexico with a 13-year-old male student says Kelsey Peterson has been returned to the state to face charges.
James Martin Davis said Peterson returned to Nebraska Wednesday. She is in federal custody and being held at Cass County Jail.
But Davis said he wasn't sure when Peterson will appear in court.
The 25-year-old Peterson fled Lexington with the boy, a former student of hers, on October 26th. The two were found in a mall parking lot in the border town of Mexicali, Mexico, on November 2nd.
Peterson faces a federal charge of crossing state lines to have sex with a minor.
She also faces state felony charges of kidnapping and child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
