Communities struggling with population growth would get some promotional help under a bill (LB609) that got second-round approval Wednesday.

Under the measure from state Sen. Tom Carlson of Holdrege, communities with no significant population growth over the last decade could receive grants of $10,000.

The grants would be for developing Web sites or other promotional tools designed to attract people to rural communities.
