About 180 men and women of the National Guard are heading home to Nebraska after more than nine months in Iraq.

The Guard said the Omaha-based 600th Transportation Company is scheduled to arrive Friday afternoon at the Guard air base in Lincoln.

The unit had been hauling goods from their position at Camp Adder, south of Baghdad. It arrived there in August last year after leaving Nebraska in May for training at Fort Bragg, N.C.

Lt. Col. Bob Vrana said the unit is based in Omaha but includes troops from all over the state.

He said the return of the 600th Transportation Company will leave just 47 Nebraska National Guard troops in Iraq, 33 in Afghanistan and eight in Kosovo.

Welcome home troops! And thank you so much for everything you do to keep us safe. I agree 100% with Army Sister, if you see a soldier, let them know how much they're appreciated!

AMEN! When you see a soldier on the street don't forget to stop and thank them. Whether you approve of troops being over there or not, they've still done their job to the fullest!
