They're back... Around 180 National Guard members are home, safe and sound, in the Cornhusker State tonight after a year in Iraq. The soldiers of the Nebraska National Guard's 600th transportation company spent the last year providing convoy security for Coalition forces in Iraq.

Every singe one of the soldiers was happy to hug family members, missed for the past year. However, for one soldier the homecoming was special. Specialist Cody Williams got to hold the newest member of his family for the first time.

"Amazing," Specialist Williams said looking down at his newborn son for the first time. "It's like nothing i've ever felt before."

He made it his mission to come home safely when he learned his wife was pregnant.

"Definitely. Knowing i had two people waiting at home and not just one when I got here," said Williams. "There were some tough nights."

Brody Williams came into the world before his daddy could make it home.

"I really wanted him to see the baby so i was sending him pictures and stuff," said Stacy Williams, Brody's mom. "But there's nothing like being able to see him and hold him."

Finally specialist Williams sat on the runway back in the U.S., waiting to get off the plane and see the newest member of his small family.

"That was the longest ten minutes of my entire life. I just wanted to get off there," said Specialist Williams. "He just wanted to hold him," said Stacy.

Hundreds of other families reunited.

"Almost brings tears to your eyes, thinking about reuniting. It's the hardest thing I've ever done in my life being away from the family," said Sgt. Brad Ranslem holding his son.

"We just wanted to get home ya know. Been gone for a while," said specialist Joshua Malcom smiling at his family.

But, for the Williams reuniting is only half as important, than meeting.

"The whole time, knowing that i was coming home to a new baby," Specialist Williams said shaking his head and still looking at his new son.

The soldiers said they were proud to have served, and glad that the approximately 180 who left Nebraska a year ago came home safe from Iraq.
