Pam Rada and Vicki Billoff are two special friends who relationship started from a simple ride to the doctor.

Vicki is a volunteer for the American Cancer Society's Road to Recovery Program, a program that gives free rides to doctor appointments and treatments for local cancer patients.

Vicki, who lost both parents to cancer, believes this just a simple way of helping out in the battle against cancer.

"I guess you just feel good knowing that you can do something I'm not a nurse I'm not a doctor but you can drive a car and help people get in and out," she said.

Pam, a cancer survivor who has never driven a car before, said the program is not just a ride to a weekly treatments but a good time.

"Once a week I get out in the world, and I basically get out there through Vicki and the other drivers. They are all very nice and enjoyable," she said.

Pam was able to fight off cancer in the mid-'90s after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer, but unfortunately the cancer returned in 2007. Pam said the important part in defeating cancer is having a positive outlook on life and knowing that she will always make her treatments.

"Keep your head up, and if you need a ride, always call the Cancer Society because they will get you there and get you back and they will do it with a smile," she said.
