-Scott Kleeb: 73 percent
-Tony Raimondo: 27 percent

After a big win Tuesday night, Kleeb said he'll take in his daughter's soccer game Wednesday. But after that, it's back to work, meeting with his campaign to plan for what's next.

In a passionate speech, Democratic Senate candidate Scott Kleeb asked for his supporters help to change Washington.

"I'd never seen Scott make a speech like that before. I'd seen him speak before, but man, he took it up a notch this time," said Solomon Kleinsmith, Yes We Can Nebraska.

Kleeb said it's Nebraska values that will take Capitol Hill up a notch.

"Tonight we commit ourselves to solving these tough challenges and these tough problems together like we have every other challenge that has faced us," said Scott Kleeb, (D) U.S. Senate Candidate.

Supporter like Phil Montag said it's Kleeb's progressive views and grassroots support that will take him to Washington.

"We're all united behind a cause. We put in a lot of work and a lot of dedication. A lot of us donated money to the cause and it's all paid in dividends tonight, and I'm looking forward to being here in November," said Phil Montag, Nebraskans4Obama.org.

Before supporters can celebrate a November victory, Kleeb will have to face republican heavy-weight Mike Johanns.

"We should be asking questions about what it is that we believe in and the changes Mr. Johanns was able to make. We're going to get together as a campaign and we're going to take that next step to continue to build this," Kleeb said.

Kleeb said by voting for him, Nebraskans have shown they want change in Washington. If elected, he said he'll deliver.

Kleeb said he respects fellow Democratic candidate Tony Raimondo and had nothing but kind words for him after Tuesday night's election.

I tried to write "I am curious" -- and I really am. I get most of my information by watching C-SPAN, so I see the highlights of what happens in Washington, but I don't know the details about the politics inside other states. That's why I was glad to find this site and I hope to follow the Senate campaign both by the news coverage and by reading various comments, especially when there are details on where candidates stand on issues, and how the campaign is going. I am also going to buy Senator Hagel's new book and read it to make sure I agree with him on the important foreign policy issues. We have a fine former Congressman from eastern Iowa (a progressive Republican, Jim Leach) who would also be an excellent National Security Adviser.

I curious whether Nebraska Democrats would agree with me that Chuck Hagel would be a good National Security adviser in an Obama Administration. He is apparently a friend of Senator McCain, but he disagrees so strongly with McCain about Iraq that there are even rumors he's considering endorsing Obama. I don't think he needs to do that yet. He would be qualified to serve as a domestic adviser in a McCain Administration or as a foreign policy adviser in an Obama Administration. He is already being mentioned on the long list for Vice President on the Democratic ticket. I support Al Gore for that position, since if anyone is prepared to "hit the ground running" when a new Administration is in its early days, he is. But Hagel and Obama serve on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee together and I suspect they would be very comfortable with each other. There is the additional advantage that Hagel and Senator Lugar could work with Obama and former Senator Sam Nunn (as Sec of State?)

Hey! It is OK to be an Iowan! Be grateful we didn't send you Congressman King! I wasn't saying Johanns is better than Kleeb. I was saying he's better than most of the Republican candidates in other states, for the US Senate. I also think that Kleeb is one of the best Democrats running for the US Senate, especially among the challengers. I wish him well. I watched several of his videos on YouTube and I was impressed. I think he will be a good campaigner and I hope people will challenge the silly "conventional wisdom" that Nebraska is a "red" state.

BEST TO KLEEB! May Nebraskans finally learn exactly the type of SNAKE IN THE GRASS Johanns is. Neither does he emote "Nebraska Values." He's a IOWAN and a phony opportunist.

I hope you accept comments from a friendly neighbor. I think Nebraska's primary was more important that the West Virginia primary. Democrats need close to 60 U. S. Senators in order to break Republican filibusters. Your excellent Republican Senator Chuck Hagel voted to allow debates on foreign policy maatters, but not on domestic policy. Frankly, he is one of my heroes, and I hope his supporters will come over to vote for Kleeb. I will also say that Johanns seems like a gentleman, and I think it will be possible for your state to have an issue-oriented campaign and a good new Senator in either event. If I were an advisor to Obama -- if he's elected President -- I would suggest that he call Chuck Hagel first thing after the election and offer him the position of National Security Adviser. If your two Senate candidates run a positive campaign and develop expertise on some policy , I'd like to see the loser appointed to a useful position also. I don't think Nebraska can lose!
