A Lincoln man is dead following a motorcycle crash in Plattsmouth on Friday.

Cass County Sheriff Wm. C. Brueggemann said the sheriff's office was called to the crash at the south end of the Platte River Bridge on Highway 75 around 3:50 p.m. Friday. He said David Nelson, 48, of Lincoln, was operating a 2003 Yamaha XVS11100 motorcycle without a motocycle endorsement on his license when he lost control of the bike and collided with the left guard rail.

Brueggemann said Nelson was thrown from the motorcycle, over the guard rail and into the ditch between the south and northbound highway lanes.

He said Nelson was taken to UNMC, where he died a short time later.

A friend was riding alongside Nelson. He was not injured in the accident.
