A mother is facing child abuse charges after her newborn tested positive for meth.

Sandra Wetzel, 26, gave birth to a baby girl on Saturday at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

When the baby tested positive for meth, Grand Island police arrested Wetzel.

In addition, Wetzel had four warrants in three counties. Police say three were for writing bad checks and the other was for failing to appear for genetic testing.
