A Bellevue man has been sentenced to five years in prison for killing a man driving an all-terrain vehicle while driving under the influence.
Cass County District Judge Randall Rehmeier sentenced 23-year-old Jacob Drewes on Monday for the March 28 accident.
Larry Vogt, 58, died when Drewes' pickup truck hit the ATV Vogt was driving.
Drewes pleaded guilty to motor vehicle homicide and his second offense of driving under the influence.
Drewes' attorney, Patrick Betterman, said Drewes regrets the accident and had attempted suicide three times because of the guilt.
Drewes apologized to Vogt's family at the hearing.
The Vogt family has also received $750,00 in an insurance settlement.
