A contract agency accused by the state of financial impropriety has been put on a year's probation.
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services said in a news release Tuesday that the Autism Center of Nebraska will be strictly monitored.
John Wyvill, director of the Division of Developmental Disabilities for the state, said the Autism Center has changed its senior management and revised policies and procedures.
Two top officials at the Autism Center were fired after a state audit uncovered what it said was rampant financial impropriety, including possible overbilling of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The auditor's report was sent to the state attorney general for possible criminal prosecution.
