A Lincoln teen was arrested after using a fake bank deposit to go on a shopping spree.

Police say a 17-year-old boy used an empty envelope to make a fake deposit of $5,000 at a Union Bank ATM on July 25.

Then, over the next several days, he made four ATM withdrawals and seven debit transactions spending $4,803 at Westfield Gateway Mall before the bank realized there was actually no money in his account.

The teen was identified by an employee at Journey's in the mall.

He was arrested Wednesday and was taken to the Youth Detention Center.
