Grand Island Mayor Margaret Hornady is cutting her own salary again in an effort to save the city some money.

Hornady salary for the 2008-09 budget year, which starts Oct. 1, is about $14,000.

The mayor began forgoing a salary last fall, which is part of the current fiscal year. She has returned over $10,000 to the city's general fund.

City Administrator Jeff Pederson said the salary cut is the mayor's initiative. He said Hornady is out of the state until September on family matters.
