Nebraska U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson says time will tell whether Hillary Clinton did enough in her speech at the Democratic National Convention to persuade her supporters to vote for Barack Obama.

Nelson, a Democrat, said Clinton had two tasks in her speech Tuesday in Denver. First, she needed to say Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee, has her support. And then, Nelson says, Clinton needed to debunk the idea that those who wanted her to get the nomination should look at Republican candidate John McCain as the alternative to Obama.

Clinton pulled out of the race in June.

Nelson -- who endorsed Obama early on -- said Wednesday from Denver that Clinton did all she could in her speech.

now it is Hillary's responsibility to campaign for all the candidates who supported her for President, and the two women Senate candidates (Sheehan in NH and Hagen in NC), and especially for women candidates who want her to come to their districts to campaign for and with them. It is also Bill's responsibility to help raise big bucks to help Democratic candidates all over the country, and to campaign with any candidate who wants him to come to his district. Most of all it is the responsibility of Hillary's supporters to take a look at Sarah Palin, and see what she stands for on all the issues, and what her experience has been, compared to Hillary's, and ask themselves what their attitude should be toward Palin. No good Democrat can be for Palin, after supporting Hillary, if that person cares about any issues of importance! A certain kind of right-wing woman could easily support Palin, but I don't see how she honestly could have supported Hillary in the primaries. Dishonestly, yes!

wow! Bill was a good loyal Democrat and came through! He mostly needed to have his ego re-inflated, and to be treated like he wasn't a racist - and the latter was taken care of by the big friendly hug from that very delightful, brilliant, informed, happy, and talkative guy from Florida, Kendrick Meek. I could just hear Bill reacting with a "Thanks, I needed that!" If Meek ever gives up politics he should be sent around to every nursing home, every hospital, every clinic and facility for ill children, and just let him radiate love and give hugs. Now I can believe in a black Santa Claus!

I agree - and she could not do it all at once, and did not need to. Her meetings with her delegates today (Wed.) when she released them to vote for Obama, and the things she said and the wonderful way she said them this evening during the roll call (when she spoke from the microphone of the New York delegation) continue to help greatly. T felt so pleased with her, and proud that she is doing the right thing in the gracious way! Now if Bill will only come through with a fabuous old-time speech tonight!... let's hope. I am now listening to the fine young Congressman, Patrick Murphy, of Pennsylvania, an Iraq vet, and wonderful speaker - from the heart. Bill Clinton has to convince us that he means what he says - when he supports Obama - and he is more convincing when he means it and tells the truth (not so convincing when he does not). How interesting it is going to be! Hillary could run in 2016, if she helps to elect Obama and Biden this year, but not in 2012 if they lose.
