Before the nearly 85,000 fans pack into Memorial Stadium each home game, thousands take advantage of getting some pre-game pump up, at the Husker Nation Pavilion pre-game party.

For the past several years, Husker game day in Lincoln has been extra noisy, especially near Memorial Stadium, and the noise is not just coming from tailgaters and excited fans, it is coming from the Husker Nation Pavilion before each home game kicks-off.

It is considered to be Husker Nation's premier pre-game party.

For thousands of fans, old and young, that is exactly what the Husker Nation Pavilion provides before each Husker home game.

"It's just here to provide a good game day experience for families and kids. We've got a lot of stuff here like the inflatables. We've got the band playing and families can just go out on the field and throw the football around," said Patrick Fullmer, Husker Nation Pavilion Intern.

Kids can also kick their way to the game in the Soccer Kick-out. Run their way through the Husker Power Zone obstacle course, or shoot their way to game-time with the Basketball Shoot-out.

"It gets the mood set, and everybody's all pumped and stuff with the music playing and people shouting. It just gets everybody pumped up and ready for the game," said Brett Bancroft of Lincoln.

"It's excellent because it wears them down a little so they'll sit still during the game. It's a wonderful thing," said Gretchen Swift of North Platte.

With face painters, hair sprayers and a clown making special game-day husker balloons, parents say the Husker Nation Pavilion is a great addition to game day traditions.

"Definitely keep this going. It's worth all the time and effort they put into it," said Swift.

Husker Nation Pavilion pre-game parties start three hours before each home game.

They are located on the Ed Weir Track and Nebraska Soccer Field, just outside Memorial Stadium.

Organizers say all activities are fun and free for the entire family.
