The White House is trying to assure anxious Americans that the United States is working aggressively to stabilize the nation's financial system despite the continuing plunge in the stock market.

President Bush will make a statement on the economy Friday in the Rose Garden.

White House press secretary Dana Perino says the Treasury Department is moving quickly to use new tools to improve liquidity, which is the root cause of the problem. She said that "Americans should be confident that every effort is being taken to stabilize our markets."

Stocks suffered another late-session thrashing.

It was the seventh straight session decline for the Dow

Based on preliminary data, the Dow fell about 679 points to 8,579, more than 7.3 percent. The blue chips haven't fallen below the 9,000 level since June 2003.

Some one needs to ask Bush about the 4000 new troops that have been stationed in the U.S for riot control? What is coming? Let the stock market crash that is the only way it can reset itself. Then start criminal charges against Reed,Dodd,Frank,Schumer, and all the others responsible for this mess!

The economic problem our country starts with the Senate and House that are ran by democrats. The economy of the U.S. was good until the first part of this year. That is when the decline began. Anything the president does is controlled by the house and senate, if he veto's a bill they can overide it and if they don't like his ideas they drop the bills in committe and it don't go anywhere. Then they try to blame the economic problems on the president which is not the case now. If the house and senate where ran by republicans and the president is democratic such as the Clinton era it looked like he did great with the economy but again it was the house and senate making the calls and the president just gets the glory or blame for the problems that arise from their decissions. The president will speak but if the house and senate don't listen it won't mean a thing for the economy and they will still blame Bush for the problems. Obama will continue the same path that we have entered now.
