One of John McCain's campaign co-chairs is calling Barack Obama "a guy of the street" -- while raising the issue of Obama's teenage drug use.

Former Oklahoma Gov. Frank Keating made the remarks on comedian Dennis Miller's radio show yesterday while talking about Obama's record. He calls that record "very extreme" and says Obama ought to be more forthcoming about his past. Keating says Obama should admit he was "way to the left," "used cocaine" and "voted liberally," before moving to the political center.

In his memoir "Dreams From My Father," Obama describes experimenting with marijuana, cocaine and alcohol as a teenager, saying he'd been headed toward becoming a "junkie" before straightening himself out.

McCain aides say Keating had not been asked to bring up Obama's past drug use and hadn't cleared his comments with the campaign.

I can't wait to hear about something, anything else. This has been a dirty, ugly year. I would rather watch a 5 day Sponge Marathon than to have to hear one more thing out of either of these camps.

The democrats have put us in this mess by their control of congress. The president can not get necessary bills passed with them controlling congress. Go McCain and Palin!

A drug user? This is the least of our worries about the chosen one. More concerned about ACORN,lack of experience, higher taxes, socialism,a racist church member, and the fact he has not produced a full birth certificate.

Hey michelle, the democrats are in charge of the house and senate! Think things were going great before then! Looks like you voted for change back then and now you want "change" again?! If thats the kind of change you want, thank god you are voting in a state that your side is never going to win anyways!

Looks like Obama can't take his own words! Low life democrats will do anything to win, like voter fraud that is popping up all over the country.

I guess he was forthcoming about his past if he wrote a book about it. Didn't Frank Keating know about the book before he made those comments. He's kind of dumb.

Uhh....well gosh I am sure glad Obama and his campaign isn't doing any mudslinging at all.....what an upstanding citizen he is....PUKE!! Its politics....they are all essentially that way so to single out the republicans as "low life" is absolutely absurd. What is a good presidential campaign without the lies and manipulation??

McCain and his camp are dispicable. This is yet another desperate attempt to gain points in the polls. I don't understand how anyone could vote for McCain-or do you think the last 8 years have been good? Loss of jobs, the economy circling the drain, decrease in civil liberties. There selfishness and corruption are amongst the most unpatriotic acts I have ever wittnessed.

Well, at least he didn't say "Yes, I smoked marijuana, but I didn't inhale!"

you know, if drug users are the only ones coming up with solid ideas about how to move the U.S. forward in positive ways, maybe we need to rethink the whole "War on Drugs"... although by my same logic Bush 43 should have been a genius... the whole republican mantra can be summed up from a line in 'The Wizard of Oz': "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain".

Low life republicans will use any dirty tactic to sucker voters out of their vote!!
