Nearly 50 soldiers with Nebraska's Army Reserve sat ready at a farewell ceremony on Friday, as a part of preparation for their deployment to Kuwait.
The group is part of the 295th Ordnance Company of Hastings.
After soldiers and their families listened to speeches from dignitaries, they dropped a bombshell--they had been stop-moved.
"Stop move essentially means the unit pauses and holds in place until they receive further direction," said Commander Brigadier General Karen LeDoux.
The announcement means, they will not be leaving next week after all.
You would think this would be welcome news for military wives like Shawla Erlandson. However it is not that simple.
"It's very difficult because psychologically you prepare yourself," said Shawla.
After preparing more than three months for this day Shawla says it is back to square one.
"You have to psychologically go back to the drawing board with the family and figure out how we're going to re-prepare," said Shawla.
Now she and her family have to deal with an uncertain future.
"They didn't say they weren't going, they just said the fact that they have to wait now and see what's going to happen
In the meantime her husband, Sergeant First Class Mark Erlandson focused on a mission that could still happen.
"To the people i got working for me my platoon guys keep your heads up, hold onto what we got and stick with our training and wait our next order," said Mark.
