Staff at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and the Nebraska Medical Center are marketing a weight-loss plan that uses color-coded bracelets to monitor food intake.
The A-Wrist-A-Trac program is based on the U.S. Department of Agriculture's food pyramid. It's designed to help adults monitor their diet and establish better eating habits.
The program includes a user guide and set of bracelets in either rustic fall or pastel spring colors.
Dr. Kathi Healey, one of the inventors, says she lost eight pounds over two months with the program.
The program is currently available at the Clarkson gift shop in the joint facilities' Omaha site or by e-mailing unemed@unmc.edu.
Additional versions are being developed for children and people with diabetes.
