Lincoln - Freshman I-back Quentin Castille posted his first career 100-yard rushing game, but it was not enough to prevent the Nebraska football team from falling 45-14 to visiting Oklahoma State on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

Playing in front of the 287th consecutive sellout in Memorial Stadium on Homecoming, the Huskers fell behind 38-0 at halftime and were unable to recover. Oklahoma State's victory snapped a 20-game losing streak to Nebraska in Lincoln, and also gave the Cowboys their largest-ever win over NU in the history of the series.

Nebraska slipped to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the Big 12 with the loss, while Oklahoma State improved to 4-3 and 2-1.

Castille worked his way for 102 hard-fought yards on 20 carries to produce career-bests in both categories. Fellow freshman running back Roy Helu added 55 yards on 14 totes for career-bests as well. Junior I-back Marlon Lucky carried 13 times for 66 yards to push his season total to 698 yards through seven games, as NU finished with 206 yards on the ground.

Nebraska remained committed to its ground game despite falling behind early in the game to the Cowboys. Sam Keller and the Huskers through for a season-low 129 yards, but he attempted just 18 passes on the day, completing 10 of them.

Keller connected with senior tight end J.B. Phillips on a 13-yard touchdown pass just five seconds into the fourth quarter to cut OSU's lead to 38-7. After Oklahoma State answered with a score, Keller gave NU its final touchdown of the day with his one-yard toss to fullback Thomas Lawson with 39 seconds left in the game. It was Lawson's third touchdown reception of the season, with all three coming in Nebraska's last two home games.

Along with outscoring the Cowboys 14-7, in the second half, Nebraska put up 236 second-half yards compared to OSU's 194. The Huskers rushed for 122 yards in the second half, compared to the Cowboys' 85 yards on the ground. Although the Huskers won the second half, they were unable to prevent the Cowboys from registering just the second win by a visiting team on Homecoming at Memorial Stadium in the past 39 years.

Oklahoma State controlled the first half, scoring on its first six possessions - including five touchdowns - en route to a 38-0 halftime lead, the most first-half points surrended at home in school history. The Cowboys rolled up 357 yards of offense - 232 on the ground and 125 through the air, while averaging more than eight yards per play. The OSU defense held Nebraska to just five first downs and 101 total yards.

For the game, Oklahoma State's offense amassed 551 yards, including 317 on the ground and 234 through the air.

Dantrell Savage finished the game with 212 yards rushing on 25 carries, including 16 rushes for 148 yards in the first half. Despite a big first-half rushing total, Savage did not find the end zone until he sprinted for a 30-yard scoring run with 5:25 left in the game - OSU's only score of the second half.

Kendall Hunter added 67 rushing yards and a first-half score, while Julius Crosslin scored a pair of first-half touchdowns on only four carries. Quarterback Zac Robinson added the Cowboys' fourth rushing touchdown of the half, while also teaming up with Seth Newton for a 41-yard touchdown pass. Robinson finished the day with 33 yards rushing and 234 yards passing, as he completed 12-of-19 attempts without an interception.

Adarius Bowman was Robinson's top target, hauling in six receptions for 100 yards, while Brandon Pettigrew added a pair of catches for 46 yards. Hunter also grabbed two receptions for 37 yards out of the backfield.

Nebraska relied on its ground game for its best scoring chance of the half, as NU drove 59 yards down to the Oklahoma State 10-yard line before coming up empty on 3rd-and-2 and 4th-and-2. The Huskers trailed 17-0 at that point with a chance to close the gap, but the stop ignited the Cowboy defense, which forced two turnovers that led to 14 points of OSU's 21 second-quarter points.

The Huskers return to Memorial Stadium next Saturday when they play host to Texas A&M. The kickoff time and television coverage are expected to be announced on Sunday.

I didn't think we had anymore records to break but Kansas found one. We wish you well Kansas in your quest to win the big 12. It's been a long time coming and you have shown you are deserving. Nineteen more days to go Nebraskans. Hang in there better days will come again. The season for Basketball is just ahead. Next Saturday lets show the Seniors we care for them and all the football team and know they have played the best they could with what they have been coached. Did I say coached? There must be another word for what Callahan and company have done for four years. They have done a terrifc job of destroying everything Nebraska football stood for.

Ok so the fans are upset that we have lost 2 games in a row. Yes Callahan needs to pull his head out of his back side, but the players also need to listen and play the way they are being told to.Everyone seems to be ecellent side line coaches. Unless any of you can do a better job, stop the whinning. It is only a game and every team , be it college or Pro, go through slumps. This just so happens to be ours. Tom was an ecellent coach, but how many years was he ridiculed for the calls he made. The Osbourn era is over people so stop comparing every coach to him. Seems like the only time any "fans" are behing the coach is when the team wins. It was the same way when Tom was coach. When he won you all loved him. When he lost in a bowl game you ridiculed him. Is it time to do a little house cleaning? I believe so. The defensive staff need to pack and leave. Now that Pederson is gone maybe Bo will come back. And our players need to be law abiding citizens as well. So dont just blame the staff.

Its a conspiricy! Ecveryone else was jealous of Ne football. These jerks came here to bring down a great program. Lets run them out of town on a rail!!!!

Tom and AD and Bo as coach might be the ideal, but that isn't what we've got.Maybe it would help if our coaches took some classes on how to motivate people. It seems to me the players under Tom used to be ready to go to the wall anytime he asked, and he had earned the right to ask, obviously, that isn't the case with the present staff. The pros get what they want by throwing more money at the players, we can't do that, so let's learn how to motivate guys.YOu might be surprised what will happen when your players really want to give it their all.

I still remember the day that TO announced his retirement and I knew that the program was headed for trouble. I was not a big fan of Frank Solich, but he was heads above what we have now. At least we still had pride in our team when Frank was coaching. I am waiting for the day that people not only want to stop going to go to games, but that kids don't want to play for NE anymore. Then what happens?? I moved to Los Angeles less than a year ago and I had lots of people tease me that USC was going to kick NE's b**t and I think that they were surprised when I agreed with them and didn't defend NE. I really didn't think that NE had a chance against USC. Pederson and Callahan have ruined the program. I just hope that some changes are made (SOON) so that the NE team can some day be like they used to be under the direction of Tom Osborn. Maybe they need to offer him a job at the university so that he has influence on the team once again. At least we haven't been shut out, YET!

It's a SORRY day when all of these GREAT FANS complain about the players!! As far as I can see, they are doing the best they can, and the plays are coming from the Coaches!!

Ok, enough about the football team. All the press should shift to the Nebraska Womens Volleyball Team! No special section in the Sunday paper for football - feature volleyball instead. Take away the blackshirts from the defense, and give starting line assignments to the underclassmen. Let them get some playing time. Look for the glue that has sustained the Husker football teams of the recent past. Was it the former AD? No, I don't think so. Was it the former coaches. Probably, in part. What was it? There was something that drew them together, caused them to excel beyond their athletic abilities, kept them positive and encouraging each other, and caused them to bow their knees at the center of the field after every game, and His name is Jesus.

TO SALLY FROM HASTINGS: At least Frank Solich had a 70 percent winning record when Pederson got rid of him to get his buddy that was such an excellent NFL coach to come to Nebraska to, what he calls, coach...We more than likely would of had another national championship by now if they would of left Solich alone to do his job!!!!!!

Callahan has done what Danny Nee could never do. Make Nebraska a basketball state.

people please it's a football game, it's done get over it. Or find a new past time if football stresses this bad. No I don't watch football I have better things to do.

I think everyone knows of somebody who, because of who they are, and who they know has been promoted at times, not because of there capabilities, not because of their intelect, not because of any service they have done, but because one of their dumb buddies decided to promote them. Perfect example AD Pederson, riding on Dad's coattail and being willing enough to take the risk not considering his career future. It's like the blind leading the mentally challanged, and feeding on each others mistakes. Perlman must go, Pederson must go, Callahan must go, Cosgrove must go. Lets hope and pray Dr. Tom will step in and rebuild after the collapse. Pelini should have been the headcoach after Frank was dismissed.

Coach says he's not woried about his job. That he's doing this work for the players. In light of the losses, and potential future losses would he be willing to stay on as coach an take a one million dollar cut in pay untill he comes up with a winning season? I'm not going to drive in from out of town, spend $104 for two tickets, plus all the other expnses associated with the game to watch UNL lose big time.

Well just watched the Coach Callahan Show (or is it the Bozo Show) on 10/11 tonight. Again it wasn't his fault, just a bump in the road, we just getting started, kids are young, raw talent, etc, etc, etc. Didn't you tell us that we need to get rid of the walk on program and that we didn't have the talent in this state to compete at the college level? Well this is your team C, you recuted them and trained them. Now you whine that they need to pick it up. They are young men that are trying but they need leadership, so if they fail, whose fault is it. Even through the down years under BD, TO, and Solich there was always pride, hope, and optimism but you have certainly destroyed that. Time to be a man and do the right thing. To 10/11, shame on you for coddling to and white washing of Callahan. Your handling of the post game interviews and the tough questions during the Coach's show were were so cutting. You didn't seem to hold back when Osborn or Solich were head caoches.

During the Channel 10-11 'Coach Callahan' round up of the Oklahoma Sooners game, on Sunday night, after the news, it seemed to me, that our Head Coach couldnt stay away from the remarks, "OH God" and "My God". Go back and count them. Perhaps Coach Callahan, could use his comments regarding "God" to persons who want to hear that kind of disparaging speech about God. I didnt like it, for sure. What sort of example or discipline is that? Maybe our players dont like it either? We like a Coach we can respect, also.

Coz is only the tip of the ice-berg. The Steve P experiment has failed to produce and action needs to be taken ASAP. Billy C has talked down to the citizens of Ne like we are red-necked hicks that can easily be snowed by his smoke and mirrors explanations. We were hoping that giving up the long traditions would be off-set by championships (so was Steve P), we were wrong. Fire Steve and bring Tom Osborne in to re-establish a Nebraska culture with tradition/values that this program has been known for. Obviously Billy C will have to get off his high horse and make the decisions we all know should be made--the rest will take care of itself.

Posted by: Justin Location: Lincoln on Oct 14, 2007 at 10:24 PM
You know, I don't blame Callahan as much as I do Steve Pederson. Pederson didn't have a new coach in mind when he let Frank Solich go. Also, anyone remember Houston Nutt? I believe that Pederson is also a lier as he boldly said to the entire state of NE that he would never and never had offered a coach 1.5 mill to come here, but this was disputed by Nutt himself and also the AD director of the college Nutt was at. I think Pederson will not come out and admit that he made a mistake because he is not man enough to do so. I am going to go out on a limb here and think that the state should personally audit Pederson's books as if he can lie about things like this, what would stop him from lying about this. Fire Pederson, get rid of Perlmann, and the rest of the NE coaching staff and bring in Osborne as new AD. Also, build the volleyball team a new "stadium" as at least they are doing something.

Hey if the coach is doing his job, there shouldn't BE a rebuilding year. No excuses. maybe we should rebuild the coaching staff.

Posted by: Only earning $50,000. a year and work hard Location: Pickrell on Oct 14, 2007 at 07:22 PM
What were the previous 3 years, Bill? Were they something other than building years? The only thing building here is a huge salary. The only thing you are correct on is that it is not the players fault.

Posted by: Dottie Location: Norfolk on Oct 14, 2007 at 06:21 PM
I suggest we bring in Tom Osborne as our new AD, who in turn will attract first class coaches. We need our staff to have Nebraska's interest at heart, not their own. I do not blame the players for this disaster. They are being demoralized by Callahan's indifference. The players certainly have the talent. What they need now is a great coach. Not one that barely reaches mediocrity. Hopefully, Perlman will recognize what needs to be done and act on it. Thank you.

Posted by: lisa Location: lincoln on Oct 14, 2007 at 06:18 PM
first of all to the players you can only do what your so call coaches tell you to do beleive me you are not the problem!! It's the coaching!!! But anyway remember when peterson fired solich with his stupid smirk!! Hey SOLICH I'm laughing with you at him.(peterson). Keep the winnings coming COACH Solich.

Posted by: Clint Location: Lincoln on Oct 14, 2007 at 05:32 PM
First of all this situation should not in anyway be reflected on the players. The players have to respect the individuals in charge to be able to execute with proficiency. If the players can not respect the individuals in charge then how do you expect them to play as a team. It is pure and simple as that look at the military if you don't respect your officers in charge you will have very poor results. The players are hurting their is not one of them that wants to perform at the level their currently at but you have to have a coaching staff that frankly respects one the tradition of Nebraska football, two respect the players in the program, three know how to coach young men. This staff absolutely cares less about the tradition that Nebraska has. They only care about their own egos. The whole company needs to be let go they have had four years to build a program and cannot do it successfully hence the reason none of them coach in the NFL anymore.

I like many of the fans was deeply disappoint in the players and the coaching staff on saturday, but i'm a true husker fan and will continue to stand behind the team.

Posted by: Bill Location: Lincoln on Oct 14, 2007 at 03:51 PM
"We'll stick together in All kinds of weather?" Is that in the nebraska Fight song? This is a rebuilding year pure and simple whether the fans and certain rabble rousing sports writers and commentators like it or not. Do not blame the coaches or the players.

Posted by: Bob Location: Lincoln NE on Oct 14, 2007 at 03:42 PM
OK Husker nation time we stand up and take a stand I say not show up in the stadium until the second half this next weekend. This just might get there attention on how upset we are. I do not blame this on the players but the coaches (Defense) Lets stand together husker nation and let our actions speak for us.

I think NUs FB team should have to sit in on some of Coach John Cook's VB practices to see just what it takes to be a #1 team, as the NU FB team sure isn't getting the proper coaching from the NU FB coaches! At least Coach Cook is earning the $$ he is being paid. Coach Cook also shows his players what it's like to sit out when they aren't doing a good job...why can't some of the NU FB players sit out a few times when they aren't doing a good job and think about what they are doing, too, as some of the other guys who might be better get a chance to play...might just get that "you gotta' want it to win it" attitude going around in their heads. I also agree with the people here who are saying that it's time to "shake things up and clean house" in the NU Athletic Department. If I did my job as poorly as AD Pedersen and all of the NU FB coaches are doing their jobs, you can bet your Husker millions that I wouldn't have my job come next Monday morning.....

Posted by: Mary Location: Lincoln on Oct 14, 2007 at 03:05 PM
Hey Monty, got ta agree with you. Hire Tom as the AD and Bo as head coach. This would be the greatest match up ever! We would finally have a AD that not only knows the game and Husker spirit but is also very knowledgeable on raising funds and leading a Husker Nation. We'd have a head coach in Bo that would bring us back to the powerhouse we once was under Devaney and Osborn. UNL listen up, we need a change in power and it isn't to hire one of your friends like you did with Pedersen and company!

Posted by: Sally Location: Hastings on Oct 14, 2007 at 02:40 PM
I cannot believe the resentment this state still has about Solich's firing. I don't know if it will ever get better. What does bother me is how he is still being compared to our current coaching staff. Get over it fans! That era is over and it is time to move on! Yes, there are some problems but we have to stand behind our team and coaches and show our support. Patience is required. Anything worthwhile takes time. These coaches and kids have not be given a fair amount of time to turn things around. Seems to me like the fans have come up with their own time table for when we should start winning what they think we should. If you honestly care about these players and coaches please back off and have some patience so they can turn things around. It only makes things worse when fans turn against a team. The frustration level gets worse and then the attack mode sets in which is never good. Please don't let it go that far. I stand behind them. They will come back!

Posted by: David Location: Seward on Oct 14, 2007 at 02:36 PM
So this is what we get 1.5 million per year. I'm bet there are a lot of us out here who played football in highschool or in college that could do no worse and probably better. Based on my calculation Callahan earns $721.15 per hour. Is there anyone out there who would settle for less? I think so. The current median family income for Lancaster is $62,019 which breaks down to $29.82 per hour. I ask again; Is there anyone out there who would be willing to do the job for less? I nominate Larry the Cable Guy for AD at least he knows how to "Git-R-Done" and does anyone have Barry Switzer or Jimmy Johnsons phone number? To the players keep your heads up. You can only do what the coaches ask you to do. If they give you poop to work with you will have stinky results in the end.

Why doesn't koln kgin have an interview with Steve P.s boss Pearlman. We are all angry and are tired of listening to steve pedersons smirking, out of it answers. Go to the top and ask Pearlman to come out from behind his Wizard of Oz curtain and make some decisions. It's a public university, not private. We pay all their salaries!!! The emperor has no clothes and we want change! It's our school and program and we are not going to let them ruin our pride and past. The press needs to get Pearlman to come out on camera and answer a few pointed questions. I think with what we pay him he could step up to the camera. He's easy to find game day . We see him scurry from The Champions Club across the street then up to his Private skybox, funded with our contributions. Come on koln kgin grab him gameday for an interview. We are waiting!!!!!

You know what rolls down hill. Lets start with Perlman and let it roll. Pedersen will never be fired as long as Perlman is there, Callahan will never go as long as Pedersen is there and the list goes on. Nebraska football players and fans deserve better than this horrible mess they have made. WE NEED TO CLEAN HOUSE.

why won't 10/11 news report these comments on their news broadcast,or question the govenor on the waiste of taxes payer dollars on peterson and callahans saleries.

Hey Callahan, need a new offensive or defensive cordinator, let me know,, I can help you out. Hey Andrew, you are right it's tough to live out of state when we play so poorly, I got it when we just lost one game.

They get rid of Solich so they can hire Callahan that's only in it for the money. Get rid of him and find somebody who really cares for the game instead of the money!

Posted by: Jerry Location: SLC Utah on Oct 14, 2007 at 09:57 AM
It's becoming evident that coach Callahan isn't a motivator. Bob Stoops went in to OU with none of his own recruits and motivated a team to a championship in 2 years. Urban meyer took a bunch of kids from nowhere Utah and made them BCS busters, went to FL, and wins a championship in 2 years. You can have the best game plan, but you need to motivate the players. Callahan has been ineffective period. He detroyed the Raiders and now our Huskers. Look at the trends. The players have plenty of tallent, but the staff can't make it gel. First you lose games, then the faith of the players is shaken, then the fans revolt, then the Boosters start to pull out. See the trend??? When is enough enough. Someone in NU management needs to get the guts to do something before it gets further out of hand. PLEASE!!!! To the players, Keep playing hard in spite of the coaching. You know how to play, just execute. It's about the tradition. The fans will still love you!! GO BIG RED!!

Posted by: Wallace Location: N.E. Nebraska on Oct 14, 2007 at 07:54 AM
We shouldn't blame the players. They are doing what the coaches tell them. This three yr. contract w/ Callahan should have never happened. It's time to get clean house because it is obvious that our coaches do not have a clue for this program. Hang in there players, AND fans...There are up years, and down years, this is a down year. Never would I have left at halftime from a NU game.

Posted by: Andrew Grimes Location: Crestview, Florida on Oct 14, 2007 at 07:54 AM
I think it all starts with the AD Steve Peterson. Resigning Coach Callahan for a 5 year extension is the worst move I've seen in sports. First he pressures the firing of Frank Solich, then he brings in a supposedly big time coach (one that took a Gruden built team to the Super Bowl and got waxed) and went against fan support for Bo Pelini. Time and time again, Nebraska has its worst outing in 30, 40 and 50 years. Everything Peterson has done has disrupted Nebraska tradition and I blame him solely. Fans, including myself, were critical of Coach Solich for not winning the 2001 Rose Bowl and losing some games we should have won. I never would have thought that we would hire someone that gives us losses of unimaginable proportions. I live in SEC country and I always pride myself of NU and its accomplishments. I never thought I would have to tuck my tail and hide in my hole because of the way Nebraska plays. Let me tell you......it's getting rough and we're the laughing stock down here.

Posted by: Monty Location: Stuart on Oct 14, 2007 at 07:36 AM
Tom Osborne as Athletic Director with Bo Pellini as head coach. Can we make this happen? Steve Pederson is behind the times, the West Coast offense isn't the answer. Look at the teams that are winning they are using spread offenses and great defenses to win championships. Furthermore, Tom Osborne recruited players with character who would not quit when times got tough. Winners never quit and Quitters never win. I think the current Huskers are in one of the two categories and we all know which one it is.

Posted by: Allen Location: Lincoln on Oct 14, 2007 at 06:18 AM
Hey Robb, you nailed it! This game, and the age old HUSKER way of life was lost 4 years ago! I remember the night I heard about Solich being fired. Couldn't belive it! Hate to say it, but, don't expect anything to bring back our former glory... It's over. A total overhaul is needed, and that's gonna take a LONG LONG time! At least I can cheer on the ROCKIES. All the way to the world series!

Posted by: jennifer Location: lincoln on Oct 14, 2007 at 01:21 AM
the only reason i watch football is because of my husband but to be honest i think that they made a big mistake when they fired frank and hired callahan and all those other coaches. i think that frank got screwed because he is the one that got those players to that bowl game and callahan got the credit when they walked away with the win. get rid of the one a be coaches and find some real coaches. i do support the players and i hope that they keep their heads up and play to have fun.

It’s the responsibility of a Head Football Coach to do the best thing for the team. That doesn’t include playing favoritism to players or Defensive Coordinators. It’s a simple question, “What’s best for the team”? Is constantly playing RB’s that can’t break an ankle tackle best for the team? Probably not. How about holding on to one of the worst Defensive Coordinators in College Football because he’s a close personal friend? I’m going to stick with the “Probably Not” on this one also. We all look at the player’s stats. What about his psychological state of mind? Are you preparing your players physically and mentally for the demands of each and every game? Are you building a bunch of individuals or a team? To put it simple, if your team isn’t number one to you, you’re not a head coach. Next, football is smash mouth, not the Ballet. That’s why Tom gave them black shirts instead of black skirts. When it comes to defense all that matters is that ball crossing the line. Throw away your ridiculous blocking schemes and try just stopping the ball for a change. Cosgrove and Callahan are quickly becoming College Football’s Harry and Lloyd. I feel bad for the team; we know they have the talent. Isn’t this where our AD should be stepping in waving a flag apologizing to Bo? How about snagging the Boise State Coaching staff? “No, I thing I’ll just give Callahan a raise instead”. Well, kiss our recruits goodbye. It’s easy to see the problem is in the coaching staff not the player’s abilities. Who’s going to come here now? The Big Red is Dead. Born in the era of Devany, deceased October 13th, 2007. We’re more gone than Elvis.

what has happen to the UNL athmosphere. the side screens on the north corners are removed leaving the north end to try to see the screens in the south corners. The tunnel walk song seems to be run at a slower tempo. almost a waltz beat. the players have no hype coming into the stadium. Thanks Pedersen, youve created a ahmm mmm No dynasty is not the word.

Call the Radio Stations and ask for "I'm all out of love" from Husker Nation for Coach Bill Callahan. Then call Al Gore. This MUST BE another global warming event !

Posted by: Rich Location: Lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 11:00 PM
I've never been able to support this coaching staff. Friends & such never could figure out why that was. I've always held the philosophy that you support a team you support the conference. Being a Chiefs fan I've always been a fan of the AFC West. It was appalling of what the so called coach did to a Super Bowl Raiders team. Then to think we considered someone like that to coach here and be able to win. Why would anyone want to come here now? We fire coaches who win and keep coaches who loose.

Posted by: Marilyn Location: Kearney on Oct 13, 2007 at 10:43 PM
We need leadership and that reflects attitude, its time for new Coaches, Callahan does not have it

Posted by: John Location: Kearney on Oct 13, 2007 at 10:43 PM
Every program has had it's period of struggle. Solich was fired after getting us to a bowl game and a winning season. Callahan gets a multi-million dollar package at the start of a season and is looking to loose 7 games in a season. Poor decisions from the top (Peterson) down, lets start there to get back on track. It's not the players it starts with their leaders, we have none!!!

Posted by: John Location: Spencer on Oct 13, 2007 at 10:26 PM
Joe in Lincoln YOU ARE CORRECT. Bring Ganz in. Callahan palys thw whoe game with a QB that is supposed to be the 1A Qb with Sam. Give him sokme snaps!!!!

Why give the coach more money ? It seems he does not know how to coach, Im 53 years old and Ive never seen the Huskers play as bad as they are, looks like a raise does not have to be earned.

Posted by: B. Location: Hastings on Oct 13, 2007 at 10:25 PM
Sorry to change the subject, but to Tom in Lincoln: if you are going to pick on folks for their spelling and grammar- you may want to spell grammar correctly genius.

I am disappointed in how the team is performing, but I am more disappointed in the fans. Everybody has down times and the Huskers are going through one now. The team needs our support and encouragement. As for the coaches, they need to do some serious evaluation of the program and their game plan for the future. I'll always be a Big Red Fan. Hang in there Huskers!!!

Posted by: Lyle Location: Fremont on Oct 13, 2007 at 09:58 PM
It's time to do what should have been done in 1998, TURN TO TURNER. Turner Gill is the only person that can unite the Husker Nation. It would also be nice to see his new boss be Dave Remmington as AD, he knows how to raise money. The two of them will bring pride back to the Huskers.

Posted by: jj Location: Bladen on Oct 13, 2007 at 09:47 PM
We fired better coaches than we currently have runing our football program. Time to replace AD and then go on from there. Give Calahan a job that is fitting his talent, clean up after the practices.

Posted by: Jim Location: Blue Hill on Oct 13, 2007 at 09:42 PM
I am disappointed in the University to allow the continuation of the distructin of the Nebraska football legacy. Something is definatly wrong when the University continues to do nothing to the AD and coaching staff. Maybe they are either blind or don't care about the future of our football program. We definetly need to make some drastic changes from the top down if necessary.

I am surprised they are not playing better. They have one of the best locker rooms in the country!!!

If the boys in red focus on their love of the game and restore faith in their own talents, then the scoreboard will take care of itself. As for me, I'm a Husker fan - 24/7!

Posted by: Janice Location: Hebron on Oct 13, 2007 at 08:38 PM
I think Nebraska should start playing players that will be used in the coming years to give them experience and start building up from that, these inported players for one year can't do the job and shouldn't be expected to do it.

Steve Pederson for President! He's a man of incredible vision! Gooooo Biiiiiig Reeeeed

Coz was terrible at Wisconsin and he is still terrible at Nebraska!!!!! Coz, do you know what a BLITZ is???? We have not touched an opposing QB in two games!!!

Posted by: Joe Location: Lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 08:21 PM
So much negativity in all these comments. I too am frustrated at the way our Huskers are playing and to be honest, I don't know if we will win another game with this team and the coaching startegy in 2007. But these are young men who I believe are trying their hardest to compete on the field, they are handicapped because of our coach's inability to try different approaches. For instance, (and I'm o.k. with Sam Keller at QB), but why not try Joe Ganz at QB a few series. What does it hurt to try a double reverse or pass down the MIDDLE of the field once in a while and on 1st down, not when it's 3rd and 7. I really like Coach Callahan's desire to teach and help our players become better; but he needs to wake up and shake the bushes pretty soon, because at Nebraska, we pay him to win games and conference championships, not earn "Father of the Year" awards. Coach, we need you to make some changes; and maybe starting with some of your own coaches; they just are not getting it done!

According to the Lincoln Journal this morning the "BIG MONEY" was disgruntled before this embarassing loss to MO. Well, what do they think now? More importantly, what are they going to do about it? Gentlemen, actions speak louder than words.

Remember the good ol' days when we wanted to fire Tom Osborne because he couldn't beat Oklahoma? Oh, how I miss those 9 win seasons. 9 win seasons will be a thing of the past unless we get rid of this bunch, Peterson included.

Posted by: Diane Location: David City on Oct 13, 2007 at 07:44 PM
I've always loved the Huskers, no matter what sport. Football used to be everything, but I do believe since they've been losing, more attention has been put to the other sports coming from Husker land, and that is great. This is the only positive thing comming from all this. I agree with everyone else. Some firing needs to happen. I believe our biggest problem is there is our players have no respect for their coaches. The coaches have done nothing to deserve respect. If you don't have respect for your coach, you don't want to perform for them. I truely feel sorry for them. In the old days, there were alot of walk ons. They would do anything to be able to play. The coaches gave them a chance, and they then were willing to give their all. Lets get ride of our expensive coaches and director, and get someone who wants to give and earn our respect again.

By the looks of the spelling and grammer, I believe, most of you fans must have attended NU

Posted by: Ted Location: Huntley on Oct 13, 2007 at 07:33 PM
The problem rest with NU's chose for Athletic Director. He let a "players coach" get passed over, that coach is Defensive Cordinator for till today was the team rated number 1. But even when losing his defence is still defending.

Posted by: andi Location: lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 07:03 PM
Quit calling them KIDS,they are ADULTS,youg adults, they should know the Program by now,and how to make those plays they are the one's on the feild, the coaches are like being their parents of the feild, parents that show and teach them the way's of the game, but callahan and cosgrove's method's are clearly not working, everyone has known for a long time,it's time for a drastic change.

Posted by: Disgusted Location: Lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 07:00 PM
I join the many disgrunteled HUSKER fans!! Starting with Perlman on down the line. Steve Pederson is an arrogant blow hard that can't back up anything he says. Callahan says the same ole razz ma tazz every week " we just have to work harder" fine, but it's not showing in any aspect of the game. And then there's Cosgrove, give me a break - Wisconsin celebrated when he left there! He should be ashamed to even claim the title of "coach". We can't expect the players to do anything other than what they are told, so there it is in a nut shell - this group of losers gotta go and I really don't care where, as long as it's away from UNL!!! GO HUSKERS!!!!!! YOU HAVE THE TALENT, YOU JUST DON'T HAVE A COACH!!

Posted by: Adam Location: Lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 06:50 PM
Solich inherited a championchip program. it doesnt take a genius to call option left, option right, thats why hes not coaching anymore. Cosgrove needs to go because he coaches a predictable defense and wont make adjustments. Callahan has built a decent offense with mediocre receivers but cant function right when we have to make up two touchdowns in the first quarter. Aside from cosgrove the defensive players need to show some guts when they are down and lay some lumber to somebody. Even a bad gameplan cant make us look this bad. Husker Nation needs to quit stateing what we should've done way back when, cause i isnt gonna happen. maybe all the whiners SHOULD stop going to games. All everybody does is cry there anyway. Even when solich was here everybody wouldnt shutup about "TO this and TO that".

Posted by: Bill Location: Lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 06:47 PM
...you people who keep telling us "rabid," Husker fans to get a grip and that we're the worse fans around ought to get a clue. It's a very big thing around here and if you don't understand that, then go cheer on "the product," that Pederson brought in here. It all started when Steve Almighty fired Solich. When he messed with something sacred around here by firing Frank, something deep down happened. I really feel that that is when Husker Nation was divided. You don't fire someone who was a student, player, coach, and then Head coach. You let him leave with some dignity and respect. I honestly feel that that is where the end started. I understand that Stevo wanted to go another direction. No problem. The problem was firing a Nebraskan who was loyal! Callahan is a victim of circumstances who means well...but will be a victim of Stevo's one man show. I am waiting for Stevo to get booed or fired, or tap dance on the grill. Boo to Steve Pederson...he should ahve known better!

Posted by: Diane Location: Wahoo on Oct 13, 2007 at 06:35 PM
I don't really understand this so called west coast offense. Maybe if the coach went back to the way the huskers use to play football we might be able to perform better on the field. I'm not saying that we need to fire anyone, but something needs to change quickly. We need to keep on supporting this team and hope for the best.

Posted by: Julie Location: Hastings on Oct 13, 2007 at 06:30 PM
We have talent and good talent..we just don't have the coaches...GET RID of Cosgrove firt, then Callahan and Peterson. These kids deserve better then what they have gotten out of these coaches. Where is the rich tradition!!!!! By the way Tanner, it might be a game to you but it's much more to other people.Just because we chose to voice our opinion doesn't make us less of a fan..last time I looked we had freedom of speech.

Posted by: dennis Location: lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 06:25 PM
where should i start i think cosgrove...4 yrs and were not a good defense...polini was here for 1 yr and we were a great defense...and i know a lot of people think that its the players fault...BUT arnt the coachs the ones that are supposed to teach the players how to defend the run and everything else...so i think its the coachs fault...and we have some of the best recruits and were ranked almost at the bottom in defense and last in the big 12 defending the run...pederson is a bad man no joke he fired someone that went 9-3 and brought someone in that cant even get us in the top 10...we were number 10 at the beginning of the callahan era...we had 1 good yr and 1 big 12 north title and callahan gets a 5 yr contract...i mean cant nebraska do a little better...

Posted by: Squid Location: Seward on Oct 13, 2007 at 06:15 PM
We were doing well with the option then we went to the West Coast offense. It seems that we are losing with that offense and we need to go back to the option so we can win some games. We will never beat anyone by going up the middle, we need to go to the outside like everyone else is doing that beats us. We will never get anywhere by going straight up the middle and the West Coast offense. I feel that it is not the players it is the coaching staff. We need to clean house!!!!!

Posted by: Kent Location: Kearney on Oct 13, 2007 at 06:13 PM
For the past four years there has been a lot of talk by our current coaching staff about the huster traditions. Unfortunatly they have never been interested in adding to the tradition. The Blackshirts, the hard hits, the large size of team, the playing of second and third stringers late in games. All gone. Soon gone, the support of players and fans. This is not the NFl as our current program trys to emulate. Like the NFL, we build no program, play for today only, and from season to season go from top to bottom quickly i.e. San Diego and New Orleans. Is this really what we want in a football program at Nebraska??

Posted by: Terry Location: Wisner, NE on Oct 13, 2007 at 06:13 PM
If I was the coach I would pull all first team players and put in the back-ups. Make first string earn their way back in. We couldn't loose any worse.

Callahan Cosgrove Westcoast gots to go.

Posted by: SB Location: Hastings on Oct 13, 2007 at 06:12 PM
Ok Mr. Pederson you said you didn't want mediocrity? Well, you got much less than that plus a 5 yr. extension just to show you how bad it really is going to get. Time for you, coaches Callahan and Cosgrove to resign. Where are the "real" Huskers?? Do traditions not mean anything to you coaches? Maybe Tom Osborne will come back and be the new AD!!

Posted by: Tanner Location: Lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 06:10 PM
People come on! It's a football G-A-M-E! You people are acting like this is something way bigger than it really is. Yes, I know it's college football and I know people everywhere know who the Nebraska Cornhuskers are, but geeze relax! Everybody falters! It happens! Another thing, you guys are some of the worst fans of a team ever. Do you know what the definition of fan is? If you look it up, it says that a fan is "an enthusiastic devotee, follower, or admirer of a sport, pastime, celebrity, etc.". You guys aren't really very good admirers of the sport.

Posted by: Jon Location: Lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 06:09 PM
The next record to go will be consective sell outs....thanks a lot Steve Pederson, but hey we got one heck of a new stadium thanks to you and that won't be filled next year.

Posted by: Doug Location: Atkinson on Oct 13, 2007 at 06:08 PM
Solich, Turner Gill, Ron Brown, Bo Pelini, Boyd Epley, 1 top fund raiser, etc., and the list goes on. We have lost some very good people that "understood" Nebraska tradition. The coaches work hard but took a job that should not have been open. We "true" fans would have stuck with Solich and his staff at least 1 more year! We need a Nebraska guy as UNL President, AD, and head coach. Turner Gill and Ron Brown come to mind. This hurts! Long time Nebraska Fan losing faith not in our players but in our leadership beginning at the top whether it be the cost raising of tuition by the regents or athletics! I hope they can turn it around.

This I why gambling shouldn't be allowed in Nebraska. We gambled with Pederson and loss. People with lots of money are talking in the skybox. Money will leave in Pederson doesn't. Steve, go back to your daddy in North Platte. Maybe his attorney practice can save you.

Posted by: frustrated Location: beatrice on Oct 13, 2007 at 05:48 PM
Where do you start? I think maybe we should start with Pearlman and work our way down. Four years and we don't have better d-backs than green and grixby? they belong returning and that is it.We do not have anyone over 6'1? Pederson said he wouldn't settle for mediocracy? Callahan sad that this offense would take want we want and not what the defenses give us. I LOVE it when big shots open their mouth and stick their foot in it. The Alumni and boosters need to go the board of UNL and tell them to get rid of them or they will pull their money!! DO YOU HERE THAT PEDERSON AND COACHES!!! Pederson and Callahan DO NOT CARE!! Callahan himself said that streaks are made to be broken. He outta know, he has broken enough of them! Chase Daniels said that he faced the some kind of defense in high school!! Why did he get a raise when he has not proven anything. Our guys are better than this. Maybe they are revolting against the coaches? This is absolutely pathetic. Callahan is not an offensive mind

Posted by: Jacque Location: Holdrege on Oct 13, 2007 at 05:45 PM
I am for firing Pederson as the AD yet today and giving the job to Tom Osborn and then it should be goodby Callahan and Cosgrove. Where would we get some coaches this late in the season to stop this train wreck? Pederson fired Solich and look who stepped up to the job, Pelini. We really missed the boat by not hiring him and the fans felt that decision was wrong. Pederson I can not believe you are a Nebraskan. Your decisions have hurt the football program since day one. Who in the world okayed the increase in Callahan's pay? Do this state one favor Pederson and resign NOW!Matt Davison said today he had a terrible lump in his throat and he had never seen anything like this. I am embarrassed for the Husker football team they are not being coached.

Posted by: Husker Location: Fairbury on Oct 13, 2007 at 05:41 PM
I'm not one to question the coaches as I'm not a coach and I don't get paid nearly what they do. BUT! I am an avid football fan and can see there is a problem. We have players who are talented, but no one is bringing out that talent. The program has stooped to an all time low. It's not just been one game, but all of them. People as fans of Nebraska football, WE MUST DEMAND A CHANGE AND IMPROVEMENT. I hate to say this, but it time for a new coaching staff! It starts at the top as *&#@ rolls downhill. Therefore, starting with Mr. Peterson and working our way down, changes MUST BE MADE. Nebraska football has been pinned mediocre. We are not mediocre, we are PATHETIC. I thought I'd never say that and believe me, it hurts to use that terminology. It's time for a change and that change needs to be made with the utmost urgency.

Posted by: Tom Location: Lincoln,Ne on Oct 13, 2007 at 05:40 PM
I would like Peterson,to explain, why callahan, deserved a 5 year extension contract raise, when he hasnt proven himself yet? and it seems like callahan will not get any better either...now has for cosgrove,he should be fired immediatly, thats pathetic, having a team score that many points and alot of yards against your defense...please bring back pelini......thank you for letting me comment! "GO HUSKERS"

I am a born and raised nebraskan, and that includes a big fan of nebraska football! I thought that Coach Solich was improving very well when PEDERSON gave him the ax, I still to this day do not understand why, Solich had worked with the program for years under Osborne. I feel sorry for the players, they need to get rid of PEDERSON, u can tell by the look on his face he is as dishonest as the day is long, then kick the million dollar ARROGANT CALLAHAN out right behind him.

Posted by: Tracy Location: Lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 05:39 PM
All I can say is what has happened to the HUSKERS? The players got heart but can't seem to put it together with the coaching! They players do WHAT THE COACHES TELL THEM TO DO! If it is so obvious that the other team is beating us on so many plays, why are we changing how we react? Sounds like a coaching problem to me. I know these players want to win, but they can't unless the coaches show them the right way! Come on Nebraska coaches - show us all the way! Because what we are seeing right now IS NOT THE WAY....

Posted by: sam from holdrege Location: Holdrege, NE 68949 on Oct 13, 2007 at 05:31 PM
Start at the Top: Pederson then Callahan then COSGROVE. Get rid of them all NOW. They have proven that they are incompentent and a detriment to Nebraska and Nebraska Football. We are the laughing stock of TV. The longer they stay the more problems they will serve to us. Get TO to take over the AD job on an interim basis and have him hire a coach and a permanent AD. Do not trust Pearlman as his judgement has proven itself BAD. Calahan has destroyed all of our records but one. The lone one is the full house, which will be gone of we wait for next year to clean house. He also set a new record which is for having the biggest home loss. Aren't we proud of him. IT IS TIME TO CLEAN HOUSE......

Posted by: don Location: grafton on Oct 13, 2007 at 05:28 PM
I think its time to clean house starting with the athletic director, head coach and defensive coach. either that or we could just hand out more raises along with extended contracts so we can continue to lose and look bad.

Posted by: Silver Fox Location: seward on Oct 13, 2007 at 05:27 PM
It's time for Coz to go. Bo isn't the answer, someone who knows defense and can relate to the players is what we need. Offense can't score if the defense can't give them the ball. GO BIG RED

Nebraska fans get a grip and realize these are just college kids and it is just a GAME! It is not a natural disaster that NE. It is not a 9/11. A game that can be won and lost so suck it up you are just fans you are not even playing the game.

Sad to see, but when you fire a husker alumni who had a season of 10-3, it is not surprising to see this. And it will continue until the house is cleaned from top to bottom.

I think it time Nebraska needs find some new football coaches an fast. Our head coach hasn't done nothing to improve the football program except take to its grave. We are the laughing stock of the nation. The starting quarterback hasn't show his stuff. The defense stinks. I think Athlete Director needs to step down also.He don't listen what Nebraska fan has to say about our football program.I want every Nebraska to know that we need a new change on the football program.I totally upset with the coach staff on the Nebraska football team.I think Callahan had enough time to turn the program around. He can't beat a top 10 team in the nation or he can't beat NR team. Cosgrove needs to go also. The volleyball team could beat the football defense. I could go on and on about this. I think it time for the fans to speak up about the football team

Posted by: Mark Location: Lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 05:09 PM
If Harvey Pearlman wants the real estate that the State Fair now occupies, he'll never get it with such a poor performing football team.

Posted by: Bill Location: Seward on Oct 13, 2007 at 05:07 PM
Everyone thought that Jerry Jones ruined the Dallas Cowboys when he bought the team, well Steve Peterson has single handily ruined the Nebraska Cornhuskers and unlike Jerry Jones and the NFL Steve Peterson doesn't have the money or resourses to turn this program around like Jerry Jones.

Posted by: Zaven Location: North Platte on Oct 13, 2007 at 05:01 PM
This is the worst team i have ever seen. TYhey need to fire everyone involved. And to think that we let a great defense mind like Bo Polini go for what.

Posted by: Brent Location: Lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 04:57 PM
Guys, why all the negativity? Oklahoma State is a good football program and even though it was a rough loss, at least the offense scored two touchdowns instead of two field goals this week. We HAVE improved, and we will continue to improve - the Big 12 North is still wide open, and we are still in the hunt! I will never stop believing in Steve Pederson, Bill Callahan, and the players of this team.

Posted by: Al Location: Lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 04:55 PM
Perlman and Peterson must go. Perlman keep your &%^(*$ hands off the state fair property, Pederson resign who needs you? No one! Gravatate towards medioacraty well well

West Coast Offense... We live in the Midwest... I have yet to see anything special about the Offense... and it seem's to me that all the Team's already know the West Coast Offense, because they walk right thru the Huskers. Whats with paying a Coach who loses just about every game...? And so far, 2 of the games have been PPV... Why pay to watch them lose... it's bad enough listening to it on the radio. Pederson needs to be fired, Callahan needs to get a clue... Perhaps Callahan should be made to learn the '97 Huskers Playbook. I do not see a light at the end of this tunnel while Pederson is still running things. There are High School teams that could easily take out the Huskers.... Maybe the players from '97 should share their successfulness with the current team... Hope the players have good grades, cause the NFL won't be looking at them anytime soon...

I feel for the kids. We have the talent but not a single coach to lead them. I say it is about time for a few people in Lincoln to eat crow. "Dinner is served"

Posted by: Tanna Location: Lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 04:48 PM
The only thing I have to say is that Nebraska is NOT a West Coast Offence team. My other thought is that we need a MAJOR football staff overhaul, starting with Peterson.

Posted by: Dave Location: Dallas, TX on Oct 13, 2007 at 04:35 PM
I feel for the players, I feel for the coaches, their families, Peterson, the fans. No one wants this. My ideal situation: Cosgrove annouce his resignation affective at year end. We need 'someone' to finish the season. Coach E too. We lack a depth at Def Line but this can't be the sole excuse. We have the talent and we have a very promising recruiting class coming in with Gabbert, a very highly touted QB, wanting to play in a pro style offense. If we could get a coach like Pelini who would/could run a pro style O, we would be right back where we belong. You also must realize, times are different than the 60's, 70's even 80's and 90's. There is a lot better talent and coaching at EVERY school. We will be lucky to be bowl eligable, but this won't last long. We have the talent. We need more from the coaches.

Just like the war. We must continue to support the troops-get rid of the administration.

What will it take for the powers-at-be to finally realize its time for a change of direction? We're in our 4th year of the Callahan experiment that was supposed to prevent our program from falling to "mediocrity." Well, Pederson and Callahan has achieved that goal. We're not mediocre, we're pathetic! I don't blame the players, I blame the leaders...Pearlman, Pederson, Callahan. Pederson created this mess with the blessing of Pearlman when he hired Callahan. If Pederson was so darn determined to leave his mark on NU football when he decided to fire Frank Solich, he should have hired Pelini. A big name was more important than a big man, a big coach. He figured he'd hire the NFL influence and everything would fall into place. Wrong! The right hire is more often the less obvious one. Instead of hiring a NAME...hire integrity, inspiration, and emotion. Pederson and Callahan both need to go now, but it won't happen before the end of the season. C'mon fans, DEMAND IT!

This game was lost 4 years ago. So was Nebraska football. Fire them all and start to rebuild.

Posted by: Carol Location: Blue Springs on Oct 13, 2007 at 04:00 PM
The fans need to get behind the team now more than ever. We must remember that Nebr football is bigger than a few players or a few coaches. IT IS a legend of greatness and of pride. We WILL come back and be greater than ever, however, for that to happen, the fans must show their support of our team and get behind them.I am heartsick over this season, but the players are even more so than we are. The majority of fans here have never seen a situation like this at Nebr. We are and have been spoiled for a long time by our dominance. We will be back. GO BIG RED!

Peterson said he was going to hire a coach that would "WOW" us. Boy was he right. WOW!!!

Posted by: MACKADO Location: Lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 03:37 PM
Would you believe Steve Petersen is from Nebraska??!! Your trying to bring the Program around is backfiring!! Where do you get the nerve, to make these horrible decisions about OUR Football Team??!! I find it very hard too believe, that you are a true Husker at heart!! You have to be lying to you're relation, about the Program!! It's surprises me that they don't put a knot on your head, to wake you up!! Callahan isn't for Nebraska Football!! There are alot of young inspiring coaches out there, who would love to get the chance to coach at this University!! Every Blog I look at, I see someone who is not going to watch, or go to the games. WE all need some respectability, as supporters of this University, and Football Program!! These words will fall harmlessly to the ground, you will fail to do anything about this, and the Program will continue to lose people!! Spend your money wisely!!

I want to say that I love Husker Football. I grew up in the Husker Nation and it hurts to see the program in this state. I truely believe that we have the telent to be a winning program, but they have no leadership. Callahan was not the answer when he was hired and he is not the answer now. I was disappointed when I heard about his contract exension and thought that it was unusual that he should recieve it at the beginning of the season. I truely believe That Pederson and Callahan knew this was going to be a bad season and they are just trying to get as much money out of the program as they can before they are forced to leave. The team needs a change and I think it starts with Pederson! He was the Mastermind behind this crime!! When he is gone, then start looking for a new coach.

And another thing...I attended the funeral of a huge Husker fan on Sept.22 . He was buried in a Husker Red Shirt! He was proud of the Huskers; win or lose! He never gave up. As the attendees there to celebrate this man's life, were leaving the funeral home, they played the "Tunnel Walk" loud and clear! Husker players...don't give up! We are all proud of you. This man's spirit is no doubt watching over all of you... You won that day, by One point! Keep your spirits up and win the rest of these games!

GO HUSKERS, GO HUSKERS!! WHAT DO YOU SAY? MEDIOCRE, MEDIOCRE, MEDIOCRE, MEDIOCRE! The sad thing is we aren't even mediocre-we are worse! Get rid of the coaches and get some talent and leadership. Maybe to make a statement-the next home game, no one show up!! Too bad that would affect the team more than the coaches. Obviously the coaches are to dumb to figure it out. Watch out for your houses being TP'ed!!

I thought Nebraska fans had more sense, where did the recruiting classes of the 5 national championship teams rank? How many stars? What is happening now is a result of what has been going on the last 4 years. What a shame that our vendictive AD did not give Coach Solich specific areas of improvement and support him. Everyone keeps hollering for Bo Pelini, he probably was not staying, but Marvin Sanders, Jimmy Williams and Turner Gill were. The tradition is gone, the streak should follow. I think some of us would welcome mediocrity, since what you are seeing from this staff and team is below mediocrity. People stand up for what is right, treat this staff they way you treated the last one. Recruit kids with character, something to prove, not stars next to their names your buddy from Chicago placed next to them.

Time to start taking the lader rungs off. Start with Pederson, then Callahan, and then Cosgrove put them on the rails and send them to one of our foes. This is just down right embarrassing the way they play. All our records are going backwards thanks to this outfit. My flag will only fly for the volleyball team now for sure, they have what it takes to win and the coach that is under paid at the helm.

Posted by: Kelly Location: Lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 03:21 PM
Why is it Cosgrove took our outstanding defense to LESS than mediocre and he still has a job? How can Callahan, Pederson, or Cosgrove show their faces in this town? They should be ashamed of what has happened with Husker football! I can guarntee the number of consecutive sellouts is going to crack very soon! I feel bad for the players, they have great talent but are mislead so terribly that they are out of control! Didn't one of the fearful leaders state, "We will not let this program deteriorate to mediocrity."? Well it is true that they have not dropped to mediocre--they have gone further to nothing! I am sure our players are wishing they had gone elswhere to play, it sure feels different to be on the winning team. Pederson, Callahan, and Cosgrove should be fired ASAP. The program is going to lose their supporters real quick. Maybe when the alumni say they are retracting their $1000's of dollars for the program-people will listen. The supporters keep this program alive-not the coaches

we pay callahan how much a year for this?

Posted by: ash Location: lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 03:18 PM
I am still laughing about the headline in the paper after the game of nebraska -v- Iowa state, showing NU 35, IS 17 ,then says cornhuskers, saying were back!!!!, what I have seen since that game or should I say the beginning of season nothing has changed, maybe next week they can get 3 touchdowns!( wow that would show some improvements )

Posted by: Judy Location: Falls City on Oct 13, 2007 at 03:15 PM
Still a Husker Fan, even tho we lost again. To date, Bill's winning record is 59%. Franks, who was fired after a 9-3 season, had a 75% winning record. Tom-83% & Bob-82%. That is nearly a 75% winning record since 1962! Not many teams can say that. So now what? Callahan's contract has no buyout clause. I know you guys on our Husker team have it in you to Win! You have the drive, passion & the pride to do it. You need to place principals above personalities & practice, practice, practice. Today's game & the others are past. You can't change it but you can go forward with faith & the know how to win! We CAN win the rest of these games...one game at a time! Go Huskers! Go! Fight! Win! Show us what you're made of! Pull yourselves up from this football field hell and get fired up! Sure, the fans aren't happy about losing but we know you aren't either. We are still with you. Ignore the media, the naysayers & negative talk. Make 'em eat their words.Do it for yourselves! We are Big Red!

Posted by: Bill Location: Lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 03:14 PM
We need to give both Pederson and Callihan a $3,000,000 pay raise so we can lose more games. The more we lose better the pay raise.

Posted by: jonathan Location: Lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 03:12 PM
If we are to pay the HEAD COACH more money for winning, should we not take money for losing!! Maybe that would make the coaching staff think alittle more about what they are doing and how to coach better, The team and each player is good enough to win but if you have to do as coaches teach then its the coachs that need replace. were pauying this man ( the 3rd highest paid coach in football) to win , and all he is giving us for our money is lost's our coaching staff is about as good and as smart as lincoln's city coucial thums down on both, Im sorry to be a HUSKER, really I am !! 60 years here and now Im feeling like lincoln and the football team has let me down big time IT IS A SAD SAD TIME IN NEBRASKA :(

Posted by: almost wild rose on Oct 13, 2007 at 03:07 PM
GIVE THE COACH MORE MONEY. HE ALREADY SCAMMED US HIC'S FOR MORE THAN HE,S WORTH. WEST COAST OFFENSE MORE LIKE TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN.

Posted by: James Location: Lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 03:05 PM
Time for UNL to make another Coach changeup. Should of happen 3 years ago too. At least we won some games while under Solich. And to the players, dont listen to the coaches, just play the game and hit something for once. I know a few 5 yr olds that can hit harder.

Posted by: Old Bag Location: Lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 02:54 PM
I NEVER thought I'd long tohave Frank Solich back in Lincoln...We need to get some Nebraskans coaching AND playing and not get players just wanting to get out of the ghetto and into the Pros..get some NE kids whose blood flows HUSKER RED!

Posted by: jon Location: lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 02:44 PM
Pederson should be fire on the 50 yard line so all the fans can show him there appreciation!!!! That is if anyone is still willing to show up....

Posted by: BRIAN Location: COLUMBUS on Oct 13, 2007 at 02:42 PM
The END is NEAR! "287" in a ROW. I Think the only way Pederson keeps his job is to eat CROW and hire BO. Cuz BO knows Football.

Posted by: Pamela Location: Neligh on Oct 13, 2007 at 02:38 PM
Why doesn't Nebrasks bring back old talent to coach since they know the heart and soul of Nebraska football. I think Eric Crouch, Grant Wistrom, Scott Frost, the Peters boys and Tommie Frazier would make an outstanding coaching group who know how to make the right calls and coach the talent that all the media commentators say we have. Let's go back to the roots and get away from the 1.75 million dollar contract. When Frank Solich lost his games it didn't take 4 years for Steve Pedersen to get rid of him! What does Callahan and Pedersen got going on!

It wasnt the depth chart that needed changing, it is and forever will be the coach chart that needs changing. I told ya before that changing the depth chart will not make any difference if the coaches still dont know how to defend their opponets! And obviously after callihan telling the press that he viewed the Oakie game 4 times and they are blasing us out to space, that he and cosgrove do not know how to defend any team at all! The team will win again only if the coaches chart is changed and that change removes them all from that position! UNL, call the local schools in town and offer the coaching positions to one of them, then we will see some wins! Or hire UNO Maverick coaching staff, they are undefeated! Heck, hire the girls basketball coach and we will win! What the heck, hire a ten year old and we will have better results then with callihan and cosgrove! Huskers coaching staff isnt worth 2cents GET RID OF THEM!!!!! How shameful another big blowout now back to back!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Mary Location: Lincoln on Oct 13, 2007 at 02:17 PM
Well well well, surprise, surprise, another blow out! callihan said this wasn't the time to worry! So when do you begin to worry callihan! Hire UNO coaches, they are undefeated and know how to play the college game!calli
